I have certain suspicions that this might actually be the first Smiths' tune I've heard. There was one nature program in my childhood, and I believe they used it.
I like it.

I love the lyrics. They move me and I know them all. ;)

I LOVE "Oscillate Wildly"!! It is one of the greatest pieces of music that Johnny Marr has ever created, and I think it works perfectly as an instrumental. (It's the only Smiths instrumental that does, actually.) I have very special memories attached to this song because the first time I heard it was at the Smiths soundcheck, which wafted over the line outside the Greek Theater in Berkeley, CA in August, 1986. It always brings me back to that wonderful, wonderful experience that I had when I was 19. Morrissey provides the marvelous title, which adds that extra Smithsy spark to the song. Need I mention that this is a perfect 10?

A good little composition - but what's a Smiths song without Mozzer? I give it an 8 which is rather generous.

Lovely number. Even without lyrics, it's very warm and tells a lil 'story'. I swear I can 'sense' Morrissey's presence in it & imagine him 'spinning mildly' to it. And I love driving to it, esp in the rain.

a 5

next!

ps Bring back Steve Lillywhite

edit;
looking at my past week votes ,I see I've been very critical, and maybe
more accurate to say, very negative. I promise not to judge inmediately
after seeing what song is to vote, but wait half an our, maybe in that way
I'm more biased, than comment and vote in a minute when I see what song
is on.
I'm afraid I became worse than Johnny Rogan, and Morrissey will curse me too ;(

Wow Comtesse I was at that concert as well, just a teen like you, and very happy to fight my up to the stage with my best mate. I vaguely remember this playing while waiting in line, what a wonderful concert that was! Can't wait for the Fillmore shows:)

A great tune. I gave it an 8. Even Moz liked it so much he said he didn't want to spoil it by adding lyrics to it! As if!

The most noteworthy moment for me concerning this song, was when I was chatting with some random person about music.

Him: "Which bands do you like then?"
Me: "The Smiths"
Him: "Are they the ones who did Oscillate Wildly?"

:eek::confused:

Gave it a 7; would likely give it at least an 8 if it had vocals!
