killer lyrics, and one of the best b-sides ever

EDIT;
the lyrics are not long and multilateral, but simple, pure and heartbreakingly touching

Never understood the good reputation of this song among Moz fans, I hear it like a poor B side

i like this song

Truly a hidden gem and the best of a very fine set of b-sides for this album. One wonders how he could keep this off the album and include the likes of 'Papa Jack' and 'Wide to receive'. A definite 10 from me.

One of the many brilliant b-sides that Moz has tucked away over the years. Whenever I hear this song I think of when I saw him play it during the Oye Esteban tour. As the opening music began, he said, mocking its obscurity, "You don't know this one! You don't know this one!" As if!!!

Of course, the best part is the closing verse: "And if I see you and I tell you I've watched you don't make fun of me later cuz I'm just lost". It's another of those lyrics that we can all relate to so intensely. Just a beautiful, perfect song - 10.

Okay, Papa Jack I agree with - but Wide To Receive is a gorgeous song with one of Mozzy's finest vocals ever. If you dare touch a hair on its head... !!

Quite simply, one of the best songs he’s ever done. Worth a 10 for the string section alone. Also worked surprisingly well when he played a stripped-down version live back in 99 (I think). Incredible to think it was written by Spencer Cobrin. How we could’ve done with some more of his songs on recent albums; such a contrast (along with Wide to Receive) to the Boorer/Whyte compositional mold.

I remember the first time I heard it… Driving through the desolate, untamed wilderness of the Bracknell Forest on my way home from Crowthorne on a bleak, blustery autumnal evening. Perfect!

The music is lovely, and the vocal is nice (of course), but the lyrics are a bit lacking. 7 from me.

Very nice song. The lyrics so true "Everybody's lost...pretending we're not -lost" Isn't that why we're all on -solo?! :p

I just found out (thanx to It May All End Tomorrow) 'that this song was whimsically called "Why Don't Women Like Me ?" by Morrissey when performed live'. Ok Moz, NOW you have 'lost' me :confused: :D

This song is wonderful,the finest moment of the "Maladjusted" era,I never understood why this wasnt on the full length.Another song where morrissey uses a repeat of one line over and over to great effect.the keyboard at the end is also another lovely little touch.

10.

A great song, probably the best of those recording sessions in my opinion. I wish the music was more memorable but it's hard to complain. Ten.

I find 'Wide to Receive' one of the best songs from Maladjusted. It is at least as good as 'Lost.'

Lost is ok but I prefer Heroes (which is being shown on BBC2 at the moment).
