Heard it once...didn't impress me...didn't depress me either

8 - 9, gave a 9 for a manic touch.
"You've got your degree
then you flew to Mars
but you still feel wretched
'cause you'll never be naked with the
good looking man about town"

Perhaps his funniest lyrics of the entire ROTT-sessions. The only thing that I don't really like about it is the music - it needs more work. Still it's good enough to be a single, yes there's a group of people who enjoy silly but intelligent singles. Hey, what is "We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful" - it's the song that made me begin to listen to him.

I bought a second copy of ROTT just so I could get the 7" You Have Killed Me in order to hear this song before I could find the cd single.

It was worth all $18. 8/10.

Holy Crap!
I LOOOVE this song. Just another way that Morrissey, through humor, wit, and a touch of melancholy, manages to describe my own life with dead-on accuracy. Plus, whenever I play this in my car, the startling, spaced-out intro scares the heck out of my passengers. Double bonus!

really? you guys like it that much? i mean its good...just not...woooowwwwwwwwww. piccadilly palare however.....

I liked it. I gave it an eight. Personally, when ROTT was first released I replaced The Father Who Must Be Killed with Good Looking Man About Town on my cd for the car. After listening to it for awhile, it hasn't held up as well as the other songs. I see it as a B-Side but still I rate it high. (Did that make any sense?!?)

I think it deserves a 7. Has a slightly middle-eastern vibe a bit like Far Off Places. A pretty good song. Probably better than half the songs on Ringleader of the Tomatoes...

Ringleader is awesome and anybody who thinks otherwise needs their head examined...

Yeah the singles are average but there is not one BAD song on the CD

Let's see Quarry has All The Lazy Dykes which just says ZZZZZZZ

things like this make me giggle at 4:30 in the morning

I gave it a 7, I like it but like other people have said- the words are better than the music which is just a bit loud for me!

I'd even say far-eastern vibe. Together with Far-Off and Whatever Happens, and I like them.

"The dream becomes sand in my hands."

This is a good b-side, but the music is a bit annoying to me. I don't like that middle eastern vibe that this song shares with "I Will See You In Far Off Places". Distinctly unappealing. Luckily, the melody is pretty good. I give it a 7.

Listen again: "I Just Want To See The Boy Happy" and "I Will See You In Far Off Places" are both bad songs.

I think this is a good song, but nothing entirely amazing. It has a smack of the "Dorian Grey" about it, and wouldn't have been out of place on the Ringleader album itself. The fade out refrain "The dream becomes sand in my hands" is great IMO, and the music is on the same quirkiness level as Whatever Happens, and Far Off Places, both good song's musically. Still, this would otherwise go unrecognized in my ranking of best Moz tracks and B-sides. So, a 6.
