A vintage Morrissey/Street single!
Splendid keyboards, a great guitar line, wonderful backing vocal harmonies from Kirsty Maccoll, a lovely, breezy, upbeat melody, and vague anti-government sentiment. What's not to like!

Morrissey's last top 10 of the 1980's, it also marked the souring of his relationship with Stephen Street who delayed the release of the single til Moz sorted out financial matters. Morrissey's response to Street's behaviour, 'enough is too much', signalled the end of an unexpectedly wonderful, if woefully short-lived songwriting partnership.

Oh well, will he ever learn?

Are you listening Morrissey...This one needs to be brought back to....

I miss the Bona Drag stuff...One hit after another....

big Fat 9

I can't give every song a 10, you would think I was mindless

I adore Interesting Drug! It's one of my all-time favorite Moz solo songs. I love the music, the lyrics, the vocals, the backing vocals by Kirsty, and the video. This was the high point of Morrissey's early solo career to me - everything was so perfect. The early videos were always unique works of art, and the Stephen Street partnership was wonderful. Too bad that this single marked the end of that relationship when Stephen had to put in an injunction to get the record's release delayed due to Steven neglecting his business duties. Alas...

This song was butchered by Th' Lads during the Kill Uncle tour - as were most songs they attempted to play during that tour - and Morrissey wasn't able to hit the high notes at the end ("Can you blame us?"). I wish he'd bring the song back again - I'd love to hear him sing it today, and his current band would do a much better job playing it. (Actually, if his old band had played it during the Your Arsenal tour, it would have been better because they improved by leaps and bounds between those two tours.)

A classic Moz track: 10.

A Morrissey classic, seems a shame Mozza has chosen to ignore this song for 16-years, would go down well at a live set.

Great video and look from Mozza at the time.

Excellent lyrics "On a goverment scheme designed to kill your dream" what a work of art.

when are we going to get updated results? songs 81 and 91 both lacked the updated results from the last 10 songs.

Stood outside the GMEX singing this song like a lunatic and therefore gets an 8 :D

Could only manage an 8 for this. Love the song, but when I hold it up against others..... Still, can't help but sing allong grinning like a fool when I hear it :D

**9**

Speaking of drugs.....

yes!!!

This song is mediocre at best. It's one of those singles where the B-side far outweighs the A.

Not knocking "Such A Little Thing..." - which I also love - but come ON! You must be joking.

No, That would be Picadilly Palare :p

A 9...one of my favorites!! At first I didn't like it, but then I just fell in love with it!!

oh i love it!!!

I was in this little bar/club place in philly one time and i requested the DJ to play something by Morrissey or the Smiths and he busted this one out! (instead of This Charming Man for like, the 2000th time!) it was the first and only time I've ever heard this played in a club, and it was so fun to dance to, yay!

9!!!

I gave it an 8, yeah it's a great song and it was one of 1st songs I heard by Morrissey. Can't give every song a 9 or 10.
