A PERFECT TEN! The lyrics, the title, the tune! This song embodies The Smiths. I love it!!!!

If ever there was a track worthy of a "10", this is it.

a very very important song

Its my teenage years in song. Actually its my life in song.

HOW THE f*** CAN YOU VOTE THIS A 6???? I know its opinions but yours is plainly plainly wrong.

Morrissey's voice sounds so yearning yet so world weary. That guitar opening. The fade at the end. It is one of the quintessential Smiths tunes.
This is what the greatest music is about. Spine chilling, sad, desperate, glorious, funny,

"When you were hopelessly poor
I just liked you more."

Bring on the Headmaster Ritual, anyone who votes that under a 9 should depart this mortal coil.

Fantastic, amazing song. A perfect ten if there ever was one.

I have five seconds to spare to give it a 10. Classic.

I recall seeing his concert 8 years ago at Chicago Theater with my Moz-luvn girlfriend and our lame ass-we-hate-Morrissey-husbands. They did know this song (good for them!) but joked and hugged eachother during it singing things like "and do you have a vacancy for a pole smoker?... for a fudge packer?... for a butt f***er? Things of that rude nature... no, they haven't been to any other shows since and they were fine that we've carried out that threat we promised them that night.

I'm diggin this daily poll. Nice forum. I like it here, can I stay? Peace ~C

I just gave it an 8 but I meant to vote 9, so the next person to vote......please give it one point higher than you intend to even it out....thanx.

Word on the street (i.e. Gothenburg's streets) is that it is because of Stockholm...

We should send the Spanish Inqusition on anyone who gives Headmasters less then 9!

This song reminds me of a really happy time in my life and everytime I hear it the tune takes me back to that time. Its not one of my favs but still strikes a chord with me due to nostalgia. Im giving it a 6.
