10.

No doubt. Makes me feel better every time.
I'm just trying to tell you what it was that I saw...

"now dry your tears, my dear"

Definitely the best song on Kill Uncle - though that's not saying much. I give it an 8.

new poster:eek:so as good a time to start as any. decent track, not one i'd press skip on whilst legging away on the treadmill:o

One of my favs....i always hope the young women is alright:confused:

I don't listen to Morrissey often. I saw today's song and remembered that it wasn't a bad one, even though I couldn't sing it 5 minutes ago, I didn't remember it.

I really like the music, the rythm, the drums.
About the lyrics, I read them while listening to the song, not particularly impressed, but if the music is good the song is good, unless the lyrics are truly awful, which will neve happen with Morrissey.

9. I love it. I love the pace, I love the lyrics, I love this song!

I like this song...a 7

I like it, it's a grower. 8. and it makes me happy + I love kill uncle.
:):p:o

I agree with each statement -but I went with a 7. I like the energy in the music too. This is another one of those songs "have pity on but love the disabled" epics like "November Spawned a Monster and "The Father Who Must Be Killed"...

I love the long YOUR in "and you feel such compassion in your soul for yyyoooouuuurrrrr mute witness...."

Ah Morrissey, still testing the strength of our patience... as we wait to buy our tickets :D

a big 8

I'm in the 'Kill Uncle is OK' camp...
Mute Witness is one of me favourite concerning the not slow songs.
the sound is OK, but the production lacks a bit, as on whole Kill Uncle
[it would have been great if Mick Ronson produced it, more raw, harder
sound, and not so over-produced]
but Morrissey's funny witty lyrics rescue the song

the finest line IMHO
4 AM , Northside Clapham Common, oh God what was she doing there

Kill Uncle was always considered to be a bit duff. Compared with the Smiths' stuff and Viva Hate it was way below par. But compared with the post Vauxhall albums, it's actually pretty good.
It's always a joy to hear a Morrissey song which isn't drowned in indie guitars, and this one has a great melodic dynamic.

Since Houdini's started showing just the top 100 (meanie!), I'm no longer able to compare all songwriters' average scores but I'm fairly sure Nevin is doing surprisingly well, and the scores for this song will only improve that. He had a few non Kill Uncle compositions like 'I Know It's Gonna Happen' and 'I've changed my plea' which have done really well...

Eight for sure. a grower. Live it sounds great

imagine if he were to bring this one back to the residencies in LA and NYC>>>???
Amazing.
