[just back from the hospital so i could be very wrong]

Always thought this was one of the weaker Morrissey/Street songs.
Heard a recent live version on You Tube, though, and it sounded great although that might be because I hadn't heard it for about 10 years!
Probably go for a 6 or 7...

Lucky Lisp is a very good little b-side, but nothing more than that. It is catchy and, like most songs of this period, has good music, but the most I'd give it is an 8. The best thing about it is getting to hear Morrissey sing the word "lisp".

He played this live??? How did I miss that???

He did it 12 times on the first leg of this most recent tour, according to the stats posted here. Only, he didn't do it at any of the shows I went to. At least I got a "Suedehead" and a "Whatever Happens..."

But back to the song... I like it because it's part of his ongoing examination of the nature of fame and fandom. As his relationship with his supporters evolves, I love these songs more than ever.

Well said & I wholeheartedly concur. I just love every little thing about this song. It takes me back to my beginning obsession with his solo-work (all uphill after that!) I would've died to hear it live -it surely would have been a nine-leaf clover night in Chicago. Moz you ARE names with the best and your talent is SO apparent!

A brilliant song, musically, lyrically, vocally, in every possibly way. One of his very best songs. And at first I didn't think it was great live, but now I think that version is just as good as the studio version. The live outro is one of his best musical moments, even though I never did get to see it live in person. And the studio outro is great as well, one of his best ones up there with The Boy Racer, The Edges Are No Longer Parallel, and I Can Have Both.

Also, looking at the poll results, I always thought this song was less popular. I am very glad to be proven wrong.

yes yes yes
I like how the song 'comes in like a lamb' and 'goes out like a lion', it just builds and builds. I find myself singing it at the top of my lungs, esp the end DA DA DA DA DA DA..........repeat repeat repeat!!!

I like it enough to give it a 7. It's a short, little, catchy biscuit and I was quite bummed too, not to hear it live but I did get Playboys and compare to this...I take Playboys.:D

this whole poll's becoming a farce

75% only gives 9 or 10's. I can understand if you compare lucky lisp to
ice, ice baby [vanilla ice], but i' cant believe if you hear Maudlin and
Lisp that you find them in the same rank

yes i wrote it lots here, but now with this mediocre song which get
9/10's [the youtube version was lovely b.t.w.] I lost faith in an decent endranking

Does it really matter though, as long as people are voting consistently and not changing their own criteria every time?

Don't be so uptight. I happen to like Lisp more than Maudlin.
Perhaps what some find mediocre others find great, and perhaps people vote high often because a lot of songs deserves high votes.

More nines - lower in the rank, plus one eight - straight to the bottom.
Everything's fine.
