I gave it 6.

OK but not something you rush to when you want to hear a Morrissey track.

Me too. A ten?! People are giving it a ten?! So "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out," "How Soon Is Now," and "Have a Go Merchant?"

Please tell me this is the result of some terrible Saturday night hang over?

Oh the humanity!

Is this song really a slap at Natalie Merchant? If so, it deserves extra points for that...

an 8, one of Morrissey's underrated songs/singles.

if 100 fans give their top 10, their will be no have-a-go-merchant in their lists

nope because Disappointed, Sister I'm A Poet, Will Never Marry, Hairdresser On Fire, Yes, I am Blind, I've Changed My Plea To Guilty, Jack The Ripper, Nobody Loves Us, Lost, Friday Mourning, and The Never Played Symphonies are all 9 and 10s

Meh.... a 5......

Come on, next one please!
Have A Go is pretty so-so. An ok melody and a passable lyric. Chorus ain't bad and some good guitar lines. Gave it a 6.

Hmm, so what will be next?
Could it be 'He Knows I'd Love to see him'...

Bet it will get a lot of 10's too

I know. Let's all start a poll on which song will be next!

I didn't care for Boxers but I absolutely adore both Have-A-Go Merchant and Whatever Happens, I Love You. I think Have-A-Go contains my favorite Alain guitar figures, and the lyrics are great too - especially this classic couplet:

Small girl runs crying through the park
So freely her daddy berates her
Just then so for the rest of her life
She is convinced that her daddy hates her

Such brilliant lyrics don't come around every day!

Yep! A 10!!! I think it's actually more enjoyable to listen to than How Soon Is Now? I'd choose hearing Have-A-Go Merchant over How Soon Is Now? in concert anyday.

I tend to agree with you. I love How Soon is Now?, but to be honest, nothing would get me more psyched than to hear the opening chords of Have-A-Go Merchant at a live show. I like the lyrics and the energy, and it's a great sing a long tune. Oh, btw, in case you didn't guess....10! :p
