This is a really lovely song.
Wistful, melodic, it even has a Paul Young style, fretless bass!
A great contrast to the A-side (November Spawned a Monster).
I'm giving it a 9.

This is a 10. Usually after I vote and check the numbers I have picked the number with the most votes but I'm surprised this time.

This is definitely a big FAT *10*!!!
Since the first time I heard this song, it really touched me. And I loved this song from the very start.....Definite 10!

I've just never felt this one...My least favorite from Bona Drag..

Although I like the ending :D

Still an 8...When Morrissey was at his best writing b-sides as good if not better than the a-sides...I like Girl Least Likely To better

I love this song alot. :) At first I thought it was of homosexual content, coz I was kind of coming out at the time I heard it in 94, so I read it that way. But now I know its not really about love for a boy lol, but anyway, its still a great song.
I love how he talks about the events that happened when his house was raided by the police.
I love how he sees the way people view him. Kind of a reflection of a reflection. His voice is very delicate, and sounds different than many other songs he's done. 10!

**9**

10 ffs
this is one of the most beautiful songs ever, his voice and the melody just makes me cry.
The best part is "and the police they actually know me..."

Rumoured to be about his father but the conspiracy theorists like to think it's to Johnny Marr! Either way a beautiful song. 9 from me.

Yes, it was Kevin Armstrong.
It's a nice enough song I would say, but nothing really special.
A solid 7.

It's his reaction to being interrogated by the police about Margaret On the Guillotine apparantly, and a much more gentle response than the 'smelly uniform' one in How Could Anybody... 15 years later, after being interrogated by the FBI.
A much better song, too.

Thanks for that. I think Armstrong wrote Piccadilly Palare too, so a pretty decent songwriter.
Nice observation about the lyrics to How Could Anybody. It's indicative of the decline in Morrissey's skills over the last 10-15 years, Humour, poetry and pathos give way to resentment, bitterness and aggression (although sometimes the fog clears and Moz occasionally still writes lyrics that are up there with his best work).
'How Could Anybody' is surely the bluntest and most charmless song he's ever written...

I really like the slow melodic tune and bass line in this number. The line "When I lived in the arse of the world..." is great. Im giving this bad boy a 7.

well the requisite sample size has now been achieved.
bring on the next song and, with it, the hotly anticipated top 60 songs to date!
hmm, I wonder how many non-Marr/Street songs will survive in the top 20...

10, no doubt.
I find the results strange - the first time my predicaments were wrong (no matter how much I like a certain song, I can more or less easily imagine the outcome of the voting - usually).

And this song is on my current playlist..

[...] you want to turn it on its head
by staying in bed!"

I said: "I know I do"
