Re: Jonny looks like Hilary Swank.

She's probably not well known outside the UK, but I've always thought he looks very like Daniella Nardini - particularly here (yes, this *is* a pretty flimsy pretext on which to post another Thom & Jonny photo )

In the words of Half Man Half Bisuit...

"RADIOHEAD, RADIOHEAD
THEY WISH THAT THEY WERE DEAD
IF THEY EVER CAME TO BIRKENHEAD
I'D LOCK THEM IN ME GRANDAD'S SHED"

Radiohead are over-rated fops

Re: In the words of Half Man Half Bisuit...

Yes, but remember what Half Man Half Biscuit had to say about The Smiths ("Four Skinny Indie Boys")

Re: In the words of Half Man Half Bisuit...

to my knowledge, as hyped as the smiths got, they were never as overhyped as radiohead. and they never responded by making crappy, inaccessible records just to see if people would still buy them in some kind of "emperor's new clothes" experiment. granted, the smiths only lasted but five glorious years, so maybe they didn't have time for that.

oh, and you can't deny that radiohead has a lot of annoyingly pretentious fans. so do the smiths, but we're talking real fans, as in people who like the music, not because it's hip to do so, but because it speaks to them. most radiohead fans seem to be into radiohead for the former reason. of course, these are just my observations and they are by no means infallible. but i'm sure you figured that out already.

seems like a pretty accurate description to me

What song is that from then??

I think the target of that song is not Smiths fans but the "Brit Pop" and New Wave revival crowd of 1995 / 96, when Camden was suddenly the centre of the NME's invented musical universe. Trash like Elastica, Menswear, Blurgh etc.

"Gazza in a Mozzer mask"

Re: In the words of Half Man Half Bisuit...

It's a little ditty they came up with between songs at gigs. If it's on an album, it'll be on the last one 'Cammell Laird Social Club'.

There's a filler about Slipknot too. "The singer out of Slipknot went to Rome to see The Pope" etc

The Magic Fairy is right.

'4 Skinny Indie Kids' is about the Brit-pop thing. 'Moody Chops' may be about Mozzer - but I think that's about Thom Yorke, personally

...............................and about defenders who openly applaud a linesman's raised offside flag.
.........and about Miriam Stoppard.
.........................................and what was that one about visiting his uncle, using the old 'I was just passing....' chestnut.
And his uncle 'launched a scathing attack.'
Saying, 'you stupid bastard, we live in a cul-de-sac.'

something like that anyway.

Why is my head full of all this nonsense? It's beginning to worry me.

Re: How could anyone hate Radiohead ?

I hate Radiohead....there songs aren't fun, aren't beautiful, aren't particularly well made, don't relate to my life at all.

But "Four Skinny Indie Kids" has that line about "with your celibate lead singer", hasn't it ? Not a problem I'd imagine Blur and Elastica's singers were over-burdened with ?

But why should there be particular references to a Camden boozer then, if it WAS about the Smiths? I think the singer out of Menswear fits the bill too.

Do I get extra points for knowing his name?

Johnny Dean

My boyfriend reckons it's about Britpop, and he knows HMHB's manager, so it MUST be true!!!
