The Official NME Story Coverage Thread

Does someone know on which page of the Guardian Morrissey's statement appears?
Thanks. Because in my country, we have the international edition, so I want to check if the statement is there too.

If you scroll down mainpage's top story, you'll find the link, but here's the actual link:

Alex Needham, Andrew Collins and our old friend CharithCutestory posted the comments. :p

Thank you; I had already read the statement.
I am afraid I still don't know on what page of the paper edition it is.:D

Printed edition of Guardian has a supplement of G2 which covers arts, music, theatres and films.

Checked the NME this morning as soon as I was off train

As predicted no mention of all this anywhere other than letters page - surprisingly the majority of letters printed stick up for Moz and decry NME's stance as silly. There is really only one lengthly reply from Conor which sticks to the 'We didn't say he was racist, we said his comments were dodgy and let him do the rest' variety.....

Also seemed like there was triple the volume of issues available - printing more in hope of selling off back of controversy? or Moz fans boycotting?

Anyway I tried to cover as much of them as possible but got a dodgy look of the security guard so scarpered!

Billy Bragg's chipped in in today's Independent.
Calls Moz a 'bore'. It's pretty critical of him. With friends like those... eh?
Don't think he'd read the Moz response.
Bragg's an entertaining live performer but his recorded output of recent years has been pretty third rate...

There's coverage of it as well in the Manchester Evening News but I can't find it out their website.

It also features a Lora Marsden protesting in support of Morrissey.

When you issue legal papers you are not allowed to speak about the case or its contents until it gets to court.

Since the issuing of the writ we've had 2 blogs from Jonze, 1 statement and 2 replies from Merck (who is increasingly looking like someone Moz needs to sack) and one Moz blog. Oh and this comment today from Conor.

Anyone else starting to think this whole legal case is a sham? If anyone was serious NO-ONE would be talking about it.

Moz feels stupid for granting the NME the interview and so he should. He's a very intelligent man and should have known no NME piece would be on his side, they've been after stitching him up again for ages and he allowed it to happen.

what's your problem with Merck?
I thought he was handling the whole thing pretty well...

Thank you! (even if I could not find it)

I just wanted to post to say thankyou to kewpie, and everyone else who posted linx, ta!

I finally read the interview (I won't buy the NME on principle)- & I don't think Morrissey's comments are particularly controversial... 'people want to be offended'- how right you are mate!
