Tony The Pony? How would anyone rate that with the other three...I would lump it with King Leer, Pregnant For The Last Time, and The Loop.....All Average at best....

Ooh I love Tone! It's also Mark Nevin's favourite Morrissey/Nevin song.
I agree that Preggers and King Leer aren't much cop. But I really love the jangly jauntiness of Tony and I think the cello part works really well. Has some great couplets too...

I think Tony is a fun song...but I've never considered it to be one of the best of the Nevin songs though....

My first pony ride was on a pony named Tony....My mom actually took pictures and noted the name of the ponies my brother and I were on...she really didn't have much else to do with her time

That's no joke! I prefer "At Amber" and "Get Off The Stage" to "Piccadilly Palare" any day! Not that I think any of them are particularly good songs, mind you... but I've never had any affection for "Palare".

8/10 for me. was one of the songs that exploded the myth that Morrissey only done sad morbid songs. An upbeat poppy little ditty. Kirsty McColls harmonies are great too. RIP.​
