The concert rumours came true (thanks heaven!)

The source of the news is Eylem Aktepe (our beautiful fan-club moderator). The organizers are her friend. They came to an agreement this afternoon. It will be on 10th of December. I think it will be announced officially in a few days time. The details are on the way.

NME journalist, James Jam, has commented on Antony and The Johnsons being ' the best thing to happen in music since The Smiths'.

Just one of the many quotes is, " Antony's victory provided welcome vilificaftion for individuality, a swipe on the scoreboard for personality, as well as announcing the gender-challenging gentle giant as the first great outsider pop hero we've had since we hung onto Morrissey's every wry utterance in the mid-80's. More so last week's Mercury Prize victory underlinded Antony and The Johnsons as the best thing to happen since The Smiths'.

The Smiths will be also be included on a album dedicated to John Peel.
All proceeds from the album will be divided between The Salvation Army, East Anglia Children's Hospices and the Karianusi School Trust. All of which Peel supported.

Readers recommend songs about school

This week's top 10

1 School Days (Ring Ring Goes the Bell) Chuck Berry

2 All Dressed Up for School Beach Boys

3 Baggy Trousers Madness

4 What I Go to School For Busted

5 School Nirvana

6 Expectations Belle & Sebastian

7 The Headmaster Ritual The Smiths

8 This Must Be the Place I Waited Years to Leave Pet Shop Boys

9 The Art Teacher Rufus Wainwright

10 Starfish and Coffee Prince

In Britain, at least, The Headmaster Ritual is the ne plus ultra of school songs. Johnny Marr set out to compose "what Joni Mitchell would have done had she been a punk rocker", while Morrissey tore into the "belligerent ghouls" who "run Manchester schools".
