What's *the most* Morrissey lyric, in your view?

The gulf between all the things I need
And the things I receive
Is an ancient ocean
Wide, wild, lost, uncrossed.

All of the rumours
Keeping me grounded
I never said, I never said
That they were completely unfounded
And all those lies
Written lies, twisted lies
Well, they weren't lies
They weren't lies
They weren't lies

Dab hands at trouble with
Four days of stubble we are
Oh, but never loosen the grip on our hand

Love this thread. Love every single one of these snippets and excerpts and fragments. Every word as familiar to me as my own skin. He is a tidal wave.

a tidal wave that we love to drown in.

😊

‘The operation went well……but the patient died.’

Others conquered love - but I ran
I sat in my room and I drew up a plan
Oh, but plans can fall through (as so often they do)
And time is against me now...
I’d had Hatful of Hollow for a couple of weeks, purchased on the recommendation of an older friend of mine. The music and vocals hadn’t quite clicked but then after a couple of listens of this song, the particular lyric you’ve just quoted caught me, and locked me in.

For life.

Speaking of good songs / lyrics, someone should list all of the songs he has sung a cappella at recent gigs and let’s see what the set lists would be like if those songs were played in their entirety.

Top of my head: Well I Wonder, Lost, My Love Life

BTW Ryan, do you still have your fabulous "I know it's over" live video to reupload? It was really really good and touching, would so love to watch it again 😍

I am reminded of these lines very often. Unfortunately .

And there is no law of averages here
If you feel down
Then you're bound to stay down
