What's *the most* Morrissey lyric, in your view?

A tough kid who sometimes swallows nails
Raised on Prisoner's Aid
He killed a policeman when he was 13
And somehow that really impressed me
And it's written all over my face

These are the riches of the poor

Can you please stop time?
Can you stop the pain?
I feel too cold
And now I feel too warm again
Can you stop this pain?
Can you stop this pain?
Even now in the final hour
Of my life
I'm falling in love again
Again
Again

This is the one I thought of straight away too. Then instead of posting it I just started listening to the song over and over again ……. simply stunning track.

Also:

Oh, please fulfill me
Otherwise kill me
Show me a barrel and watch me scrape it
Faced with the music as always I’ll face it
In the half-light
So English, frowning
Then at midnight I
Can’t get you out of my head
A disenchanted taste
Still running ‘round
A disenchanted taste
Still running ‘round

Every day I play a sad game called
In the future when all's well
Living longer than I had intended
Something must have gone...right!

I thank you
I thank you with all of my heart
I thank you
I thank you with all of my heart

Lee, please stand up and defend me
In the future when all's well
Confront what you are afraid of
In the future when all's well

Sixteen, clumsy and shy,
I went to London and I,
I booked myself in at the Y...WCA.
I said: "I like it here, can I stay?
I like it here, can I stay?
Do you have a vacancy for a back-scrubber?"

Ouija board, Ouija board, Ouija board
Would you work for me?
I have got to get through
To a good friend
Well, she has now gone
From this unhappy planet
With all the carnivores
And the destructors of it

I’m with you @BookishBoy. That’s the one. Maladjusted was the first Morrissey album I heard more than 20 years ago and that line hit me like a bolt of lightning. That line alone made me a fan, almost. And it sums up both him as a person (as much as I, a mere fan, could know him as a person) and as an artist/lyricist. It has that dichotomy. There’s nowhere he can turn, not to himself and not to the outside world.

I’d also like to nominate the following:
“I tried living in the real world instead of a shell, but I was bored before I even began.”
“ people see no worth in you , I do “
One of his earliest lyrics , should his world view .
So much power in that lyric

Also “
Gasping but somehow still alive
This is the fierce last stand of all I am”
