doesn't contain any inherent bias against Morrissey that I can detect. It doesn't read as if the writer was just waiting to slag off ROTT on principle.

He sets up the review saying that wheras YATQ was part of the whole "comeback" high, critics and listeners are a bit more sober now and ROTT has to stand on its own merits, which is kind of true. The problem is that the review doesn't judge ROTT on its own merits enough, instead falling back on references to past Morrissey releases. Some lyrics are quoted (the same ones most other critics quote), but it isn't very specific.

Nonetheless, the level of praise in the review exactly matches the 3-star rating.
