Muslim Council of Britain media secretary Inayat Bunglawala declared his love for The Smiths today (Saturday 9 June) on BBC Radio 4's "Guerillas of Pop" documentary. Interviewed about threats against Norwegian Muslim singer Deeyah, Bunglawala says: "I'm not a Deeyah fan. I prefer my 1980s Smiths." Asked if his favourite song is 'Girlfriend in a Burka', Bunglawala laughs and replies "no my favourite Smiths song would be 'There is a light that never goes out'".
