Default Has this happened to you?

Since I quit eating meat, the thought of it absolutely disgusts me now. I didn't stop eating meat because I thought the taste or smell of it was gross, but now I can barely smell it cooking without wanting to gag. I don't consider the people who eat it to be disgusting or have a problem with them, but I don't see why I ever ate it in the first place. I'm not sure if it is because I know so much more about the slaughterhouse process now or not, but I hardly ever have cravings for meat products anymore.

I also feel about ten times better without it. I read PETA's claims that it makes you feel a hundred percent better and figured that it was propoganda, but it actually is true. IT sounds strange, but I actually feel a little cleaner without it. I feel that I look and think better as well.

Have any of you guys felt similiarly after giving up meat?

You're back! I thought that you'd given up meeting us here.

As for a serious response, no, I don't actually remember any sea changes like that when I switched. Of course, that was when you were about 1.

I feel sick when I smell things like pork chops cooking.and liver !!!Ugh

Its rather like you`ve purified your system.A bit like when you are pregnant and every bad thing like cooking fat or anything bad for you smells disgusting.

I feel cleaner as well if i give up wheat for a week or so.

good luck with it and well done!

I quit eating meat recently. I sure don't miss "the heavy feeling" you get after eating meat, and I do feel better now. But no, nothing quite that revolutionary. At least not yet.

Nah, Wendy's nuggets are pretty tender, and the veggie nuggets are kinda chewy. They taste cleaner too.

Actually for like the 2-3 months that I did stick to a strictly vegetarian diet last year, I did have that feeling. I thought it was just me, but after a few weeks I felt less bloated, more energetic and I think "cleaner" is the way to describe it. It was very weird and tough to describe, but my body and thinking didn't seem as sluggish as it normally does.

So of course, genius me went back to eating meat and look at me now.

Yes. I was very pleasantly surprised. I felt cleaner- almost on a cellular level, if that makes any sense. My skin got a clearer, pearly tone to it, too- very hard to describe. And I lost 20 pounds I'd been trying shake off. Yay veggies!

And yes, also meat reeks now. Can barely even stand walking past the meat section at the grocery store anymore- it just smells dead back there. Which it is.

I lost 10 pounds without even trying when I stopped eating red meat.

I'm really glad these testimonials have been posted. I've long been of the opinion that the animal rights/"meat is murder" line of reasoning is infinitely less effective than people coming forward with these kinds of stories.

Healthy, "clean" feeling? Check.

Skin tone improved? Check.

More energy? Check.

Clearer thinking? Check.

Lost weight? Check.

Why the heck wouldn't you switch?

(Laziness maybe?)

I haven't exactly experienced the "cleaner feeling" that many vegetarians have, but I have lost weight without even trying and that does help me feel somewhat "lighter." I have been eating buckets of chocolate chip cookies lately and I haven't gained the weight back. YAY!

I have always been disgusted by the lingering smells of food on clothing/hair (like when you go to a BBQ), but I do miss eating meat a tiny bit. I'm not giving myself the option to do it, so I'm just dealing with it.
