Great music, lyrics that I actually kind of like besides the subject matter of them, and I think his talking vocals work well. So overall something doesn't quite sit right but it still sounds very good. I don't think the composition could have worked any other way.

Lyrics you like dispite the subject matter. So you just like the words no matter what order they come in?

I think its a pretty awful song, although i like his intent, back against the wall. Probably his most personal and vindictive track

The only Morrissey/Smiths song that I can vote "he should be ashamed" to. The most cringeworthy song ever - worth listening to only as a reminder that even geniuses can completely lose their minds on occasion. It's really the Morrissey equivalent of a baby throwing a temper tantrum. Ugly and embarrassing. I'd give it a zero if I could.

Sorry, that was a confusing statement. What I meant was, I like the words he chooses, how he puts them together, how they sound, I just don't actually care for Morrissey trying to make violent threats. I like how he sings/says them, I find them actually amusing because I could never imagine Morrissey actually slitting a throat (or several, as he implied), but I find it immature of Morrissey to be saying these things even if I like how he says them.

I actually quite like it. I love his speaking voice just as much as his singing voice. So it’s nice to listen to every now and again.

I like the music and also some of the lyrics. I understand why some people might see them as being a bit childish and over the top, but his lyrics are obviously his way expressing himself and he was obviously in a very angry state of mind when he wrote this song.

4. But only for comedic value ;) I know the whole thing isn't funny for Moz but it's so over the top that it makes me laugh.

A boring 3. The best part are the lyrics "And as sure as my words are pure I praise the day that brings you pain". Cuz you know we've all felt this way at some point in our lives.

This is probably Morrissey at his lowest ebb. I don't know how I'd feel if I'd gone through the whole court case saga with Mike Joyce, but this is ultimately forgettable. I can only give it a 4.

i don't think this was meant to be a song, so much as a scathing rebuke set to music, and as such it succeeds. i agree his speaking voice does sound nice -- in fact, too nice for it to be all that menacing -- and there is a sort of violent poetry to his threats. it's great for when you're in the mood for a diabolical rant. or a chuckle.

a 7

though it's not on the UK/EUROPEAN release , and it took a few years till
I heard it, it's not that bad as people said it would be

musicly it's not impressive, but I love the way Morrissey sings/speaks

no comment about the subject of lyrics it's done too much

edit
forgot to write MALADJUSTED after uk/european

Lends credence to the argument that Morrissey should have quit after the Smiths.

No that argument has no credibility at all. Its not a great song sure but 1 or 2 poor songs out of what 150? Come on that aint bad.

I don't dislike it as much as some people do. . .I like the Nick Cave-esque, circus-like quality of the music, but overall it seems sort of, I don't know, obvious. . .childish. . .not properly thought-through. Definitely no favourite of mine, but when it comes on, I don't (always) skip it. 5.

8/10. I like it.

Obviously the song wouldn't exist if the situation with Joyce never arose, but pretending you didn't know it was about a real situation, what would you think? There must be some percentage of Moz fans out there that take it at face value. Thinking back to when I bought Maladjusted and this track first came on, I was totally caught off guard. That's not such a bad thing.

I like it as Morrissey's only spoken word song, and the music is like some kind of soundtrack for a bizarre film, but in the end it's a minor, if nasty, footnote in the discography.
