Not bad, not great. Everything about this song is average. A 7

So why do you smile
When you think about earls court?
But you cry when you think of all
The battles youve fought and lost?
It may all end tomorrow
Or it could go on forever
In which case Im doomed

love it!! 10!

10.

One of my very early favourites. Now it's a bit down the list, but still a different, interesting song.
"so bona to vada, OH YOU
your lovely eek and
your lovely riah"

No, dad, I won't be home tomorrow...

This has never been one of my favorites. I don't like the jaunty music or the melody, although the lyrics are extraordinary. I prefer the live/alternate version with the "No Dad, No Dad, I won't be home tomorrow" verse extant. I give it a 7.

A decent song, and I love watching Mozza perform this song on the Dallas live DVD. I have the choon in my head now, must dig out 'Bona Drag'

This is, officially, the most under-rated song in the Mozalogue!
Even Moz was dismissive about it when it came out. Said something like it wasn't a particularly strong song and would receive blanket horrendous reviews. Well, just to spite him, the reviewers decided to heap praise upon it!

Didn't know he'd sung it live. Must've been way way back, presumably the Kill Uncle tour. Love the combination of piano and electric guitar (very Madness-esque), the middle eight, the cryptic lyric, the 'repeat to fade' outro; all in all a splendid effort! Well done Morrissey and Armstrong (or was it Langer?); sterling work!

I really like the bouncy melody and it's one of his most sing-able along with EILS. It's one of my faves.

Though it's not quite there is a light territory. *9*

everyone that doesn't give this a 10 needs a good beating with a woooden spoon.

The gayest song he ever made? Cos its about rent boys?? Oh dear. Solow indeed. In fact how pertinent a lyric:

"So why do you smile when you think about Earls Court?
But you cry when you think of all the battles you fought
And lost."

A great lost Moz single IMHO... a sign of what could have been. And what did we get? Kill Uncle. 9

This song is amazing because I've never ever heard anyone else do a song like this.
I love the subject, there's something very interesting and peculiar about 'gay' culture. I live in it, and I have to say that we have our own little story, our own world, that many people just don't know about. but its a world of its own, and I love how Morrissey is enthralled by it in this song. I love the diction, and his curiousty.
I also love the melodies, although, the quality of the record could have been alot better. It sounds pretty plain at times. Anyway, still a great song, with a ton of energy. 10.
