The Swansong....Quite Good...but not the best

The production sound is AWFUL (that session had the worst sound of any Smiths session ever) but I love it - the jaunty George Formby swagger of it, one of Mozzer's best lines ("I'm a twenty digit combination to unlock with a past where to be 'touched' meant to be mental"), the whistling, and the undeniable extra intangible buzz around knowing it's absolutely the LAST gasp of the Morrissey/Marr partnership. I remember an interview in 1992 when Morrissey said this was his favourite Smiths song as well (though he has changed his mind a few times!)

Pretty bloody awful. I've given it a 6 but am regretting it now. It should be lower.

love it, yes it's a little bit twee, but lyrically its a masterpiece.

It epitimises the sound Morrissey has completely left behind with his new band. Its light, catchy and poppy whereas now he's unmelodic and cumbersome.

This song is absolutely dreadful.
Shoplifters of the world unite is Morrissey's favorite song. Hmpf!

anyway, the lyrics might be quite alright, but it simply doesn't match the music.... You can feel Johnny Marr reaching for the gun.

These song ratings threads is a great Idea!!!! Thank you Mr. Houdini :)

I give this song a 7, not one of my favorites.

nothing special, a decent song... 7

tomorrows poll song willl come in the top 10
[I know its over]

10. I can't help loving it. it's always in my top 3 list of smiths-songs.

How anyone with any brains could equate I Keep Mine Hidden on the same scale with I Know It's Over is beyond me...
