It took a bit of work, but we got there in the end.

Available here. A whopper at 99mb, but worth it.

Tracklisting And Notes on Musical And Lyrical Influences

Most of the legwork on these songs was done by Simon Goddard, most notably in an issue of Record Collector Magazine. Others have been derived from various sources.

4) Victoria Wood - Fourteen Again
Rusholme Ruffians borrows lyrically from this song. It also borrows from another Victoria Wood song - 'Funny How Things Turn Out', which contains the line "My falith in myself is still devout". However, I couldn't find this song to include in this compilation. Can anyone help?

Heve fun everyone,

Peter

Thanks again. You are officially responsible for around 100 songs on my I-pod!! (Slight exagerration but its a fair few!)

I'm watching The Beacon Theatre New York (2000) video and just had a thought..

Doesn't the intro (at least the way they played it that night) sound very similar to the intro for Ouija Board, Ouija Board...

Also...Subway Train's riff sounds similar to My Love Life (now that would make a great segue if he ever decides to play that gem again)

"Send me the pillow you dream on" - Dean Martin
lyrics used in "Some Girls are Bigger than Others"

let me know if you want me to upload it.

Good Luck

unc - top work - i'd lost ntybome - sparks and was looking for ages. as for the rest of the songs - makes interesting listening

and yeah dean martin would be good too!

I don't know why folk want Dean Martin, Johnny Tillotson is the version referenced re: The Smiths at every turn.

The most surprising ones for me were Reparata, Sparks and Joni Mitchell. I just shows what Moz had been listening to.

Wow thank you so much Mr Skinny you're the man..downloading now + have a bit of time to go throught them - interesting bag indeed

You are now even immortalised on my I-pod as the folder is called Unc Ski (as in Normski but without the Janet Street Porter connotations!)

I forget where, but Moz mentioned seeing the song preformed on a rerun of the Dean Martin show on one of his early visits to the US. Moz also took photos at Dean Martin's old sound stage at NBC when he did the Tonight Show in '91.

Joni Mitchell was a huge influence on Prince too, but I never hear it in his music. Was Morrissey's admiration of Joni a new surprise to you? He interviewed her quite some time ago. If you like I can upload the interview.

Good Luck
