..Does anyone know what happenned to Morrissey's appeal against the Joyce ruling which was supposed to go before the Court of Human Rights in July?

Here's the Court's website:
http://www.echr.coe.int/

You can't search for a specific Judgment or Decision, but you can
browse through them.

There isn't a Morrissey vs Joyce case listed in the court's calendar
for the month of June 2003, or any other month or year for that matter.

My understanding is that at about the same time that Morrissey did the interview for City Life magazine this year, he was in Manchester to talk to his lwayers regarding the case. Now, I could well have got this wrong, but my understanding is that Joyce dropped the case, leaving Morrissey very pleased. Doesn't it say something to that effect in the City Life article?

from what I remember that case was about seizure of assets of Morrissey and his family by Joyce. If I remember correctly Joyce lifted the seizure just a day before their date in court, so ultimately they didn't have to go to court. But I could be wrong...

Re: So many hearings his head should be spinning but no

I don't think it was about the same case, but rather a hearing
regarding his mother's and sister's houses (see below).
I was mistaken, Morrissey's case in the European
Court of Human Rights would not be against Mike Joyce,
but against the United Kingdom.

This is the link to the City Life interview:

You were back in Manchester recently - why return after so long?

"I was called back for cross-examination at a court case that was
scheduled to run for three days. The Smiths drummer - but of course,
who else? - had put a charge on my mother's house and a charge on
my sister's house, and was claiming both. He was also trying to sue
me under the insolvency act, all of which was absolute nonsense. So, I
spent a few days with my barrister and my lawyer preparing for the
court hearing when all of a sudden the Smiths' drummer dropped all
three claims and completely abandoned the case. Nobody knows why,
but it seems obvious that he knew he'd lose, and he didn't want to be
embarrassed in his hometown."

I heard that Johnny Marr said he was going to pay Morrissey's share because Mike Joyce threatened to foreclose on his house. It would make sense that Johnny did in fact settle and that's why he dropped the case.

Could be, Johnny said back in January that Joyce was trying to get him to pay Morrissey's debt:

But I don't remember if and when Johnny decided to actually pay him, as Morrissey was still on about the European Human Rights Court in May.

I heard that he was going to pay when he finished his tour, which ended around Memorial Day. I can't think of another reason why he would drop the lawsuit.

Well frankly any claim on property or other assets of Morrisseys family would not hold up in court. I assume thats this is why it was dropped. Its was just to scare Morrissey and show him he (the drummer of The Smiths) is serious about it.

I thought so to but a couple of months ago someone posted some information that if true it didn't seem like it would be such a sure thing. It had something to do as to when the properties were transfered out of Morrissey's name and monies Morrissey used for the purchase of the properties.
