In 2007, and early 2008, we put up polls for all 234 then released Morrissey and The Smiths-songs. More than 25,000 votes were cast and the result was The Morrissey/Smiths Top 100, or indeed, The Morrissey/The Smiths Top 234. This year many people have asked me to continue with the polls as 18 new Morrissey-songs have been released since. With the release of 'Swords' now seems as good a time as any to start them.

Now that we've done all the new songs from 2009, it's time to move on to the older songs that were released this year.

Song 252: YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO ME

7: Good Moz/Smiths song
6: OK, Nothing special

4: Poor
3: Bad

Classic-style Moz-ballad. I really like it. 8/10

classic theme: longing.i adore this song-so beautiful and sad at the same time
prefer to listen to it with headphones-his audible breathing and sighs throughout the song..hmmmmmm....a very touching song:love:

It's good, but, for me, there's just something...indefinable missing from it to take it up another notch. The resemblance of the main guitar line to Stay by Lisa Loeb also makes me blanch a little.

That said, it would have been more than welcome as a B-side.

Its replaced EDILS as my fave Morrissey track ever and I listen to it all the time and never tire of it....its meaning is close to my heart.

I think what you're trying to say, Jamie, is that it's missing a bit of Jesse Tobias guitar work!
Actually, I think it just needs another musical section e.g. a proper chorus. It's a nice composition though - love the shimmering guitar lines.

A minor track that apparently connects solidly with a fraction of the fans.

A seven, but not a strong seven.

I was surprised to see so many people rating it so highly.

cheers
