The 13th studio longplayer from the legendary Goth rockers, includes the singles 'The Only One', 'Freakshow' and 'Sleep When I'm Dead' and 'The Perfect Boy.'

The high quality SHM-CD (Super High Material CD) format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing, SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc, allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head.

SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.

I don't have terribly high hopes for this album, based on the 4 singles. Sure, hearing Bob sing about getting an awesome blowjob is mildly entertaining, but none of the singles really grabbed me. But who knows? Maybe, like almost every Cure album, the last song ("Baby Rag Dog Book"?) will be the best, and will redeem everything.

yeah, that's the trouble with releasing 4 singles. if they're brilliant it would work wonders for album sales but releasing 4 duff ones just makes you think the albums gonna be third rate. had they just released one poor single, you might convince yourself that it wasn't representative of the album's quality.

a song about a blow job? dear lord! what is it with singers of that generation? morrissey, david gedge, and now smith all seem to feel they need to write clumsy, explicitly sexual lyrics as they approach 50!

Thank you for those. I had not heard them before. I did a search and discovered that they are from a 2006 interview from KCRW. Sadly the interview isn't playing on the KCRW website though.

I'm amazed -- it really is a great record. To boot, there'll be a part 2 "dark album" coming out next year. Or so sez Fat Bob.... But how dare I call him that now, it really is a solid record. Best since Wish.

Agreed! I'd like it to sound a bit like Disintegration (one of my faves!), or Bloodflowers...:D
