The underground detonation of a nuclear device conducted on May 25 2009 by the DPRK
They also launched three short-range missiles.
It could be time to take these people out.

This probably means they're desperate for food and want to push the UN into a "giving in" scenario.

That would not be the worst option. In the other case, NK collapses from the inside, with the additional risk that nuclear material ends up in the hands of less desperate and more determined groups.

they want a lot more than food dude
and propping up Kim Jong-il regime in any way only leads to them making more nukes!
he has gotta be taken out at the least

what would china do after your invasion plan? WWIII. kiss your guns goodbye
clearly you know little about the current politics of the area
the concensus seems to be that China wants North Korean stopped as well
hence the massive fortifying of North Korea's norther border over the last 20 years
now, granted, the Chinese may have no plans to invade(nor does the USA)
but this is not what the North Koreans believe and they are the crazy ones with the nukes
no, what is needed is some kind of joint operation by say China, USA and maybe even Russia :thumb:
such a preponderance of force might be enough to smash them before they launch any of their now small number of nukes
or we can all just wait for them to make more

because i do not think it would be enough
remember, there is no "pro-West" faction in NK
the best there is their with any power is a small "pro-China" faction
but even they could not stop these tests :(

Well, it's hard to know whether or not it would be enough. And that's also a problem: if Bill is kicked out, what's Ben like?

"Pro-China..." that's not a good option either. You don't want to increase China's influence in the region.

The best solution would be a unification of both Korea's in a feasibly timed roadmap and giving in to a number of demands from NK while granting economic and humanitarian development.

But that's not really what the big players really want, is it?

It's good to see that the American Government are 'respecting' International Law again.....:)

well, when possibly millions of people come to die because of the very real North Korean nuclear weapons
I think that will be the lasting legacy of the lies of the Bush administration
because really someone needs to act now, not later
the longer the North Koreans are allowed to produce these weapons, the more they will
there is no doubt about this
sadly, it will likely take years for some concerted action to take place and by then it may be too late to save most of Asia from their nuclear missiles
but in 2009, they could have been stopped...

Yeah...nuke the bastards!

no, no, we let China use the nukes if they think its necessary :thumb:
however, i think a concerted ground effort from us south of North Korea and China attacking from the North of them
that after a long intense aerial bombardment by US, China and Russia might just be enough to keep NK from being able to launch any of their nukes
also, if the 3 primary nuclear powers in the world were unite in destroying North Korean agression then this century might go very differently then it looks like its gonna go right now :(

by the way:

On June 13, 2009, the Associated Press reported that in response to new U.N. sanctions, North Korea declared it would progress its uranium enrichment program.

and now they are using Plutonium which will make their weapons vastly more powerful

is anybody paying attention to this, this is serious stuff going on

thats why the whole thing about invading Iraq b/c they had WMDs was such bullshit, cuz here's a country who definitely DOES have them, and no ones talking about invading them.

Let's not forget that North Korea has just sentenced two American journalists to 12 years hard labor for "committing hostilities against the Korean nation." There is little doubt that they are trying to force a confrontation with the US (and most of the planet). Kim Jong-il makes Ahmadinejad look like a moderate pragmatist (another terrible situation).

Don't worry, I'm sure that the State Department has things well in hand. :squiffy:
