I just came across this Morrissey reference while reading about the band Television. (It is the sixth item on the page):

"Tom Verlaine is not the greatest judge of work. He turned down the chance to produce Morrissey and The Teardrop Explodes, but did 'twiddle the knobs' for Friends Again, Del Amitri and The Room."

Tom Verlaine is now a solorecording artist, and once he was the vocalist and guitarist of Television, a fantastic american band from the 70's. Their two albums 'Marquee Moon' and 'Adventure' are both masterpieces. Of course their reunion album from '92 (selftitled) isn't as good, but it's still got some really FANTASTIC songs on it. Buy 'Marquee Moon' or 'Adventure', NOW!
