am i the only one that thinks this is a load of crap!? ive been to the last two LA conventions (im a sucker for anything Moz) and they were horrible! its like a big overpriced garage sale and now theyre gonna have a two day sale of junk! ill probably go to hang out but i cant belive theyre gonna milk it for two days. just my opinion...

Personally, it's not like I'M gonna buy anything. But, hey, it's something to feed the starvation between Moz tours. In a way, I agree that some [NOT ALL] of these things are capitalist. In that sense, you should mind the money you give them, and skip buying the bootleg Moz-shaped baseball hat. Meanwhile, I need something Moz-related to do before I go nucking futs.

Smiths Convention 1999 what a money making scam. I'd rather send all money to Sally Strother's feed the children. The Smiths are dead let them rest in peace.

You lot are just a bunch of losers with nothing better to do. All I know is that while your sitting at home that weekend doing the same thing you do every weekend, I'll be dancing to Smiths & Morrissey music with thousands of other fans. I think $30 for 2 days is pretty good. I mean I pay $10-$15 to get into a regular club on a weekend and I'm lucky if they play 1 Smiths or Morrissey song. If you don't want to go - then don't - no one is forcing you but PLEASE don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Hey Fellow Morrissey Fans... Well Personally i think the Morrissey/Smith conventions are Great, yeah there may be alot of overpriced stuff, but Hey if your a true Morrissey fan you will love it and you will have a fun time spending your bills on Great items... Plus its a chance for all of us Morrissey/Smith fans to "Unite and Takeover" So i'll see all you TRUE Moz followers there. I cant wait. I Love all, you Morrissey Lovers.....
Until then this has Been Girl Least Likely to saying..."There is a Light that never Goes out"

hello all you TRUE morrissey fans! i already got my tickets to this years convention. i think its really stupid that some people who actually consider themselves morrissey fans are actually considering not going! this is a great oppurtunity for us as his fans to prove how much we love him and each other! i know its sounds corny but the truth is that we are all we`ve got! i love morrissey so much that i dont care if this event is over priced! its just cool to hang out with people who feel the same way about the man ilove most.

It really figures that everyone would give in to the smiths convention corporate sleeze that just want to cash in on The Smiths good name. All you people are doing is lining their pockets with your money and you are so eager to give it to them. Why don't each and everyone of you Smithies that are praying that The Smiths will get back together wake up from your 80's dream and send me a dollar since you want to give away your money so bad. Quit living in your fantasy world THE SMITHS ARE DEAD! I hate to say that but I can face reality...

uSa - Thu, Feb 11, 1999 at 22:25:41 (PST)

Hi all, I totally agree with Mr. Mortis and also wanted to touch on a few things he didn't talk about in his posting. Why in the world would any of you want to go to a convention for a band that the actual band members all hate each other and have sued each other in court over millions of dollars? Doesn't this go against the meaning of what The Smiths stood for? I am so disapointed in my stomach over all this. I put all those years into believing in The Smiths only to have them shatter my dreams by fighting over money in court. The Smiths were a band, and a unit and it took all four of them to make the music and they should have all equally shared in the money that was generated by the band, not Morrissey hogging all the loot for himself, it all just really saddens me and my perfect Smiths world was shattered when they displayed thier greed in court and I won't give in to any more lies like a Smiths convention, I already gave away my money one time around buying Smiths records in the 80's, I'm not giving away any more money in the 90's to a bunch more lies. Please peolpe don't be sore at me I'm just saying how I feel.

I, personally, will try and go. But if I don't go then thats ok, because you do not need to go to be a true Moz fan. I am happy with listening to my Moz music at home. As for the Smiths convention, I dont know if i'll go to that one, if anyone other than Johnny Marr or Morrissey are attending. What ever I do, I know its up to me, and my love for Morrissey is enough.

c'mon folks.. the smiths is not your daily soap opera.. my love for the smiths has been based primarily on their music.. and thier music only.. i could careless about thier court battles or how they spend the day sipping tea together.. why should it be their responsibility to maintain a good band relationship so that it pleases you?.. thier job is to make music.. and our job is to decide wether we should listen to them or not.. to pass negative judements on the smiths becuase of their hatred among eachother.. or their financial problem, is a really poor way to show your interest for the smiths.. we can't deny that the smiths make good music.. and our love for them should be about their music.. not how they throw fist at eachother.. really.. that's not important.. and it shouldn't be something to be concerned about either...

i'm quite happy that there is such a convention.. and i will definitely be there.. but there are people who ramble about it being overpriced and capitalist ripoffs... here's what i think.. if you think it's overpriced... then just simply dont buy it.. the convention is not a big morrissey love thing so that it can be affordable to everyone.. i dont think the smiths love us so much that they give us free concerts or cds.. the truth is.. the profit that they make goes into their own pocket.. it's all about music and money.. and this is the same for the convention.. the guy that is selling you the Hulmerist video probably knows nothing about morrissey/smiths.. he probably bought the videor for 5 bucks and is selling it to your 20 bucks.. tough.. if you like it.. buy it.. if you dont .. then dont buy it..
i'm going to the convention to find my morrissey items.. and to be surrounded by morrissey fans.. i will buy the items that i like..and i dont care who sells it me.. or how much profit he makes..because it is my choice to buy it.. and i'm thankful that their such a convention..
