Read the story in French (scroll down to "Que devient Johnny Marr ?") here (Jean-Daniel Beauvallet - Oct. 1): Morrissey, lui, viendrait de signer un deal de cinq albums avec le label californien Rhino, maison de retraite luxueuse spécialisée dans les rééditions et les fins de carrière.

In regards to all the skeptics about my artwork, here is a scan of the check stub from Warner Brothers. I also included a scan of a Morrissey letter written inside the MORRISSEY SHOT book he gave to me when I met him. In addition, here are 2 more illustrations I did for Moz. The b/w pencil he has in his collection and the color painting Morrissey signed it for me for my collection. Last Sunday, I went to see a documentary called Lifetime Guarantee. It's an hour long documentary about Phranc and how she sells Tupperware. She is one of the biggest sellers in the country. During the film, she was talking about great moments in her life and she mentioned how she played in front of a soldout crowd at the Forum. She then explained that this was when she was opening for Morrissey. She talked briefly about the rest of that tour and how she left it early when her brother was murdered. She didn't really say anything about Morrissey himself. But there were a few guys at one of her Tupperware parties who were telling her that they had seen her open for The Smiths in 1986 and then again for Morrissey in 1991.

The new Oct 01 edition of Record Collector (with Frank Zappa on the cover) has a really interesting 8 page piece about some of the possibilities existing in the Rough Trade and Warner archives for a future, "proper" Smiths compilation. I can't be arsed transcribing it, but it's definitely well worth a read. The main crux of the feature is by Simon Goddard, and the rest is padded out with the usual boxout nonsense of choice quotes, top 10 songs that should have been on the recent Very Best Of, etc, etc, etc.
