  • I prefer the "oddness" of the released version. This is too straight-forward. I suppose if he ever plays it live that this will be the version we'll hear. Cool of Mikey to provide it though. Too bad he's no longer in the band.

  • This version is much better than the strange "ambient" version released on Boy Happy CD-single.

  • This is so much better than the "experimental" crappy remix on the b side. nicely restrained and subtle, and it's good to here this style of song and production after an overdose of YOF...with the exception of YWGIYT and ITNBA..the latter being gorgeous.

  • Thanks for that.

  • I can't say enough about what a wonderful time I had interviewing him for the radio show. He went backstage at a Sweet and Tender Hooligans show and I asked if he'd like to come on my radio program. He's a diamond of a guy and a real inspiration. I had absolutely no idea that he planned on bringing in that version of "Sweetie Pie" and was so delighted to hear it.

Thanks also to everyone who's written to me about "Breakfast with The Smiths: The World of Morrissey". It's been yet one more dream come true in my crazy ride of being a Morrissey fan. A very special thanks to Romeogirl for helping out in the studio and compiling the questions from the Morrissey-solo forums.

The best way to send in a song request for the radio show is to write to me on Twitter www.Twitter.com/JoseMaldonado Please tune in every Sunday from 9am to 11am Pacific on www.Indie1031.com

  • Thank you Mikey!

This is miles better than the version that was released officially, in my humble opinion.

Very kind of you to share.

  • This version is outstanding! The original is quite amazing too. It's very cool to hear the differences between the versions. Both are incredible songs.

    Thank you Mikey Farrell!

now someone please tell me why that unlistenable version was released instead of this. seriously, i love just about all of morrissey's songs, and i have probably even listened to «journalists who lie» a double digit amount of times, but i can't imagine i've heard «sweetie pie» all the way through more than two or three times.
this one actually sounds alright though.

  • Sounds like there's a drum machine being used instead of a drummer. I could be wrong.
I do like this version though -- very pretty :)

I do like the released version but to not have Kristeen Young on backing vocals...nicely done...this one is more hopeful while the other one is more haunting and full of despair...both great but this is such a completely different song! I love it!

  • This song has been in my head all day.
Thank you very much for posting it.

Yet, another song that has spoken to me.

It reminds me of the way he sung Moonriver.

Morrissey you, **have a lovely singing voice,a lovely singing voice**

  • At about 3 minutes in, you hear Jose say "Jul...I mean Romeo Girl" and it certainly sounds like he was about to say "Julia." And from what I remember from concerts, I guess it kinda' sounds like her.

    Discuss.
