Alain Whyte: one of Morrissey’s music men - Buzzbands.LA Excerpt: Visiting Alain Whyte’s MySpace page makes you want to dash out some lyrics, grab a microphone and start singing. There, he has posted a half-dozen rock ‘n’ roll tracks that are stereo-ready — except for the absence of vocals. That’s the way the L.A.- based songwriter and producer works, and has for years with his most frequent collaborator, Morrissey.

He's still involved with Morrissey, but he just songwrites, hence why he hasn't been in band pictures or performing.
He has other projects on the go to.

I bet none of us who saw him playing on those early '90s tours look as good now - we're all gonna be a bit older, greyer,
And as regards touring with Morrissey - why would he want to? He's been there and done it. Now he gets to do all of the creative stuff without the slogging around the world; let the younger guys do that.

On a side note: Alain doesn't look well. How can losing more that 30 to 40 lbs, in less than 2 months, be healthy. Its not.
Personally, Morrissey will not ask
Alain back to play again at all. This is why there is this "new" immersion of Alain. He has to make money somehow, besides publishing rights.

I happen to be a friend of Alains.
My band supported Johnny Panic a loooong time ago when Alain was playing with them and we became close.
I can assure you, and everyone else, that Alain does not now, nor has he ever, had a drug habit. The odd beer now and then is about as close to a vice that Alain has.
