Yes, I was wrong about "Stuff Cilla" being on a Smiths' run-out groove. Can't find the original source for my question but I think Morrissey wrote it on one of those NME questionnaires in the late Eighties, after The Smiths' split and when Cilla Black was Queen of light entertainment television in the UK with shows such as Blind Date and Surprise Surprise. So...I stand small but corrected.

in response to unpopular demand on You Tube I've added another clip from my badly-filmed 1997 interview with the Mobster. This time he's talking about the Cosmic Dancer.

  • Well, the sound was OK, and, for some reason, I loved to see Morrissey inside this kind of blue haze. I also loved the way he is casual about how he speaks about what is actually music history, which he mixes so perfectly with how he felt about T Rex (and their vocalist). He knows so much and yet you don't feel bogged down by that knowledge. It intrigues me at times that the press has referred to him as being arrogant and unapproachable, because, from this video, it seems that he is so open, and direct.

I think if your camera had moved around, it would not have helped much at all with capturing this directness. And he is in a car, with trees and birds surrounding him, so that also adds to the casualness there. He takes care of "movement" himself (moving his hands a lot, and his face), so the camera could just sit still without boring us to death.

    Beautiful.

  • ... Dorothy Squires.

Wit, humour, irony. Unlike today's crop of droning, witless thickos.

He is the heir to Lennon, but greater by far.
