  • Oh my gosh – I knew it, I knew it, I knew it. And my baby Morrissey is going to be playing Manchester on his adorable birthday May 22, 1959. A star came into this world on 5/22/59, the brightest most beautiful star that lit up the Irish skies. Why does everyone obsess about 50 (only I can do that about myself) – he looks pretty damn good for his age – actually in my opinion he looks better now at 49 then he ever ever looked since The Smiths. He is more handsome and more attractive than he has ever looked in his whole life. This reminds me of the DVD Who put the “M” in Manchester.
This is very very good news and I hope that that beautiful little baby that Morrissey is holding in this picture attends my baby’s birthday as well. The baby looks so distracted but so happy at the same time, because my baby is holding him.

    The end.

By the way I hope that he makes that same expression on his adorable face like he did in the DVD at the end of There is a Light…

  • Fans who did not get tickets can only be gutted but why blame ebay? This seems rather misdirected? Morrissey/or his management did nothing to make sure real fans got pre access to ticket sales. Ebay is an auction site and as such, I think it provides a damn good service.

For me the C*nts in all of this are touts, who prior to ebay, existed and would still exist if ebay did not sell tickets. Unscrupulous people always find ways to exploit others.

I got all the tickets I wanted this time around but have previously missed out and made a choice to pay inflated prices rather than miss a particular Morrissey gig. I get pissed off at the thought of having to do it - but it's a choice I make and live with.

There will be many fans on this site, I'm sure, who have more tickets than they need. They should pass them on at face value. I did this with two of my tickets to a true fan, who missed out on the 23rd and he almost exploded when he found out I had some and they were his. C'mon, the best way to deal with touts is: a) send Morrissey a petition from this site letting him know that HE has a responsibility in all of this and b)support each other and share the tickets we as fans have.

As for the touts - well, shooting is too good for them!!!!

I hope that all of you who really want to be there - get there. Good Luck!

Do something about it !!!! Your fans deserve better!!

  • The problem however, is that as much as I hate touts and I hate paying well over the odds for tickets, imagine if they didint exist...

Morrissey concert sells out..and then there is absolutley no way, at any price you can get a ticket,

Given the two choices, I think id like the option to buy on ebay so that I can guarantee myself tickets, albeit at a grossly inflated price.

Perhaps they should have a little Mozza test you have to pass before you are allowed to buy them!!
    ma1979tt -- Friday December 05 2008, @06:21AM (#315654)
    (User #20400 Info)
  • The fact that the tickets all sell out in minutes is not strictly down to touts anymore. Morrissey is very popular and with every tour there are more and more people who are not only disappointed that they never got tickets, but also determined to be more determined when they next opportunity comes. Put simply, there are many more fans than tickets and the fans know that you have to get in there straight away. I am a Liverpool fan, a football club where there is a twenty year waiting list for two season tickets together.

Collectively and not apparent, to some, we are working against the touts, because we, the genuine fans are making more effort and becoming cleverer. The touts are probably sitting there now saying "bastard Morrissey fans, they are not playing the game any more. We are supposed to buy the tickets and rip them off."

Evidence of this can be found on EBay. There are still tickets being sold, but less than in the past. These days it is individuals and maybe even Morrissey fans who are snapping up a couple and selling them, whereas touts used to have bundles. I got tickets for the MEN in 2004, the first to buy them actually at 9.30am that Saturday morning. But the stories on this site afterwards about people, some of them kids, queuing up at the MEN and then walking around the corner and handing them to touts never made me smile.

One thing I need to do now is warn everybody about a particular ticket seller on EBay. He has several companies, one of them, coincidentally being, 'Royallberthalltickets'. This guy is ripping people off left, right and centre and has just ripped us off for an AC/DC ticket, which we had paid him £181 for.

    http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/investigations/2008/08/ticket-tout-michael-rangos-cle.html

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Getmetickets.net

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2008/mar/29/

So, even if you are willing to pay well over the odds for a ticket, you may as well be buying a ticket on the tour bus for your money, as you are never going to see it. I would forget about Ebay. Sellers can change company names too easily. The ticket you may be about to buy could be this parasite's latest con job.

Anyway, on a positive note, I did get a couple of standing tickets for Manchester. I also hope everybody else can get tickets. If anyone has any spare tickets, I know this is unlikely, why not come on to here and offer it for face value?

Here is a good poll for the site as well.

Which Morrissey show did you get a ticket for?

List the three. To enter, you must be a registered member of the site. Just a quick way to try and judge how many of us actually did get tickets. If everyone is honest about it and only answers if they did get one, it could be interesting.

  • I'm lucky, I got my tickets - hit refresh at 9.58am and it popped up. 2 tickets for 22nd - one happy person.
I suppose what I am writing is ok when I have secured my place, however the venues hold 5-600 people. I run hotels and we sell our rooms through the internet in the same way the concert promoters sell tickets for gigs. If we put all our rooms available on all sites at peak times we would sell far too many rooms and have a massive issue on our hands. We therefore give a sensible allocation to each site and hold a few back in case of errors to be released nearer the time. This is exactly the case for concerts. Do you honestly think that the thousands of people needing tickets wouldn't all be logging on from 9.30 onwards hitting refresh every 2 seconds?
Remember that a percentage will be kept back for sponsors, PR companies and the band themselves. Yes some tickets are on Ebay, I thought about going for 4 but decided not to be greedy - how many fans did take four so they could sell 2 on, make a profit and see Morrissey for free? Alot of the tickets advertised on Ebay won't neccesarily materialise either as per previous threads.
Be patient as there will be more coming on and you will almost guarantee that more dates will be added - Take That, Oasis etc have all done so recently.
As I said, its easy to look at it this way when you have tickets but I knew that I could so easily have missed out as well.
