The new compilation The Sound Of The Smiths will be available on iTunes from its release date and iTunes are offering bonus tracks with the deluxe version.

The bonus tracks are 'Rubber Ring' and 'The Draize Train', and a video of the Derek Jarman film 'The Queen Is Dead'.

Additionally if you place a pre-order for the deluxe edition for the album before release date you will receive the video for Stop Me If You Think That You've Heard This One Before.

  • and nothing reagrding YOR, the tour, the single, anything... all which should theoretically be about 8-10 weeks away.

No slang on David T - he posts what he gets for info, but jeez, you'd think the Moz camp would like to get a little momentum going by hyping the album and all that goes with it NOW. Its all gone a bit quiet.

For ROTT, we had much more info at this juncture in the game.

  • Since I'll be buying the physical copy anyway. I have a decent digital copy of "The Draize Train" from the mysterious Rare album that appeared on iTunes sporadically this summer.

  • The single disc release on iTunes also has "What She Said" and a live version of "Hand in Glove" on it.

I'll be seriously annoyed if they don't make them available for people to download as single tracks. There's no way I'm buying the album three times.

  • The 2 songs I have been looking for are Streets of Shame & Love Is Lost. When will these be properly released? These are great songs and would have fit very nicely on this compilation.

  • (if not by Russell Brand who took the bullet for the zeitgeist's host behind him)

This evening dj Paul McCloone, Today FM (Eire) played Pretty Girls Make Graves from this album, the version from the Troy Tate sessions which he preferred. He added that the re-mastering overall was quite excellent for the whole package. I do hope Morrissey benefits too in the end.

Sorry but could anyone remind us what the release date actually is for this, and also for the re-issue of Southpaw Grammer?

    Thanks

  • I mean there are loads of Smiths comps out there already. In fact their whole back catalogue at £3.99 per cd in some places.

I doubt it's worth getting for the remastering only.

  • Jarman's "The Queen Is Dead" promo was one of the worst examples of art school tripe, and did not have any business being remotely associated with The Smiths.

It is my hope that this video will one day be ejected from the Earth, or buried in a land fill like the toxic waste that it is.
