It was good to see Morrissey at the Smoking Popes concert at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood on Aug 15th. He was sitting in the balcony and was treated to a great show. It is nice to see him support a truly great band. I was first introduced to the Smoking Popes as an opening act at a Moz concert in Thousand Oaks. Thanks Moz

  • no big surprise there then. Morrissey has shockingly bad taste in other bands/artists.No wonder he thinks he's the worlds greatest lyricist (he's NOT despite some good lyrics), if he only listens to shockingly crap music, he's bound to think he's way better than he really is. he needs to be introduced to some good bands...it would shake him out of his pub rock bland phase he's been stuck in for god knows how long.

  • I remember when they opened for Morrissey in 1997. Their set was pretty good, but I was just too excited and couldn't wait for Morrissey to really enjoy it. But then again, even though I've always liked "Need You Around", I never could really get into the rest of their stuff.

  • So, the grand Smiths box set was cut down to two cds. Well that's just great and it looks like I'll be a sucker and buy it anyway because I'm still a fan. What's with 'Stop Me' being on CD2? Anyway, we now see why Moz pushed his new album back to next year- he did not want to go up against his own band from the 80's... which will outsell his new cd!

  • and was introduced to them via Moz on the Maladjusted tour. thought the Popes had a better set than Moz that night and have seen them again since. Josh is a terrific songwriter.
