Sanctuary: the British label, which gave us amoungst others albums of Morrissey, The Babyshambles, Sufjan Stevens, Adam Green and Belle & Sebastian in the last 15 months alone, closes its German office. Who's gonna take care for all those great artists in this country?

  • Sanctuary would have sold fuck all records in Germany, unless theyhave added some more techno artists or metal bands to their roster.

    Die Sanctuary Music Group schließt ihre deutsche Niederlassung, die seit dem Jahr 2001 in Berlin-Charlottenburg ansässig war. Das gab Sanctuary Vorstandsmitglied Joe Cokell am Mittwoch in London bekannt. Als Grund wurde der Zwang zur Kostensenkung angeführt; die bislang in Berlin angesiedelten Marketing- und Promotion-Aktivitäten werde man zukünftig von London aus dirigieren. Bei Sanctuary stehen Künstler wie Morrissey, Adam Green, Billy Idol, Belle & Sebastian, die Babyshambles oder die Hidden Cameras unter Vertrag. In Berlin waren unter Leitung von Frank Stroebele zuletzt 16 Mitarbeiter beschäftigt. (bal.)[...]"
