  • what a shitty list of albums you don't realize how bad music was this year missing albums: Boys and Girls in America - Hold Steady We're from Barcelona and of course - The Pipettes

  • Nice to see that Q magazine keep up their 'predictable, boring old duffer' profile.

    Orson's album 12 places higher than Morrissey's

    Orson FOR FUX ACHE!!!

Even the other mags had the good sense and taste to stay well clear of this festering pile of warthogs 'business'.

    Arseholes!!!

  • Who cares about "best albums" lists anyway, the top 10's are always filled with the most obvious or popular releases rather than the really good ones. It seems like they make these lists based on outfits and hair stylings and never actually sit and listen to the records.
I really don't understand all the fuzz about the artic monkeys album and all these lists placing it at the top, like if their music was fresh or innovatory, when they're really nothing but another cliché of retro-rock bands.
I don't know if ROTT should've been number 1, and honestly i haven't listened to many of the albums that were released in 2006, but i'm sure that many of those albums (kasabian, panic at the disco, artic monkeys, my chemical romance, keane) didn't deserve to be above it.

    Get it sorted.

  • Am I not getting something? Most of the bands on these lists are crap. I don't see Meds anywhere, its an incredible album. I'm from the U.S., so is it not hip to like Placebo in the UK? Just wondering.

I noticed Christina Aguilera on one list....that is just plain laughable.

  • i'm so sick entire of it! yesterday i listened more carefully some ROTT singles and hell yeah its so unfair for those miserable ranks list.
my advise is please Moz, create another new album with lot of surprises. ROTT is fairly good enough but not so brilliant like before.

  • I just checked the Q Magazine 2006 albums. What utter shite! Q especially is the most middle-of-the-road music magazine you can get in the UK. I'm sort of glad that Morrissey rarely makes the top of these polls - yet he manages to get a Number 1 album and a sell-out tour. It goes to show that he is an incredbly liked artist by his fans (audience rather) and that is all that matters.
People in the UK have no respect for longevity - they just want new! new! things all the time.
    Shame, innit?

  • why wasn't belle and sebastian ranked higher than what it was?

where in the heck is The Killers? if you're going to put The Strokes on the list, the Killers should not only be there, but higher ranked than them. i thought Sam's Town was pretty good myself.

    I scare dead people.
  • My albums of the year:

1, Belle & Sebastian: The Life Pursuit
2, The Pippettes: We Are The Pippettes
    3, Futureheads: News And Tributes
    4, Guillemots: Through The Windonwpane
5, Arctic Monkeys: It's got a very long title
    6, Morrissey: ROTT
7, Ordinary Boys: How To Get Everything You Ever Wanted
8, Ooberman: Carried Away (I had such high hopes for that album and after three years, it was just alright)

And it turns out, in an entire twelve months I've only bought eight new releases. That can't be right. Where the hell did all my money go? :)

As for ROTT, it doesn't really hang together as an album does it? It's a good selection of songs, nothing more.

  • Graham Coxon: Love Travels At Illegal Speeds

Some would say that forgetting about it would indicate I don't think it's very good. It's alright. It's got good songs but I just can't listen to that voice for an hour at the time.
