Aug.02.05: RED LIGHTNING's tour of the West Coast US has been postponed until December 2005 due to Alain Whyte being called to Rome to record and collaborate on Morrissey's new album over the next few months. In the meantime, Libertalia will continue to consider offers both new and current for this tour.

I'm glad Alain's back on board, he wrote 'First Of The Gang' after all. I'd love to see Moz ALSO work with Madness and Cockney Rejects at the same time. What a splendid cocktail the next album could be - bit of guitar pop from Alain, bit of heavy stuff from Boz, something from Deano, a couple of poppy, ska-influenced efforts from Madness and something raw and punky from the Rejects. It would take a great producer to make the record sound cohesive - but it could work. On the downside, it might sound a little to disparate and random for its own good!

As much as I love Alain and his body of work, what I wouldn't give to see Moz collaborate with Martin Carr of Boo Radleys (one of the most underrated bands of all time) fame, as well as Brave Captain (not as good as BR's).

The funny thing is, I bought the Boo's "Everything's Alright Forever" when I was in high school because I thought the name was funny (I had to read "To Kill a Mockingbird" as a high school freshman - great book). The Boo's and Moz, and those in the British Music scene steered me away from the garbage that is American rock.

  • Another Morrissey album is great news. I was afraid that this may be the last, but songwiters should continue to write and record. Retirement would be no fun. Even if he sells only to his core fans and has a long career, there's pride in just doing a great job and keeping the clever/great songs coming. Hopefully his lyrics are more poetic this time, and easier for us average josies to relate to. I mean, I like Hector and I know dykes are lazy, but, y'know what I mean ? ... Maybe the oddness and isolation of the last tour, as well as media attention have spawned some great lyrics about longing for home and the lonliness of everyday travel to foreign cities. The confidence gained should give him a very different perspective. I can't wait to hear it !!! I mean that !

Sorry, guys, but isn't it a little bit naive, to discuss these messages in this serious ways??

A month before, everyone thought, that he'd truly retired and no one would seen him on a stage again and no everyone crys "hooray" for a new masterpiece in "Vauxhall"-style!!! Incredible!!!

My bet: He will make a cover-album just with the songs of his favourite artists Klaus Nomi, Nico, Brigitte Bardot, Jobriath, New York Dolls and, maybe, James Maker under his new label "Graveyard Maurice".

  • Let's face it, even slight ripples in moz-camp are good ripples. I'm going to stop with the ripple analogy before i'm mistaken for a one-woman ice cream vendor.

Rumours are something, at least it abates those silly murmurs that he's "retired" (laughable considering he's barely middle-aged as far as i'm concerned). As long as these rumours keep rolling on in, i'll be happy. When they stop, that's when people should worry.

I really hope Alain's back, he's a bloody good musician, my birthday's in Novermber, so an album&tour starting in Britain would be nifty, ta.
If that doesn't happen, hopefully the long blondes will be on tour by then so that'll help, but still, a new cd from morrissey would obviously be a nice way to start the year! That said, i'd be counting on a tour in 2006 anyway, may start stocking up on 8p noodles now in advance for the pre-tour saving spree that's inevitable.

Now the Madness L&W rumours, now that sounds promising. There is unfinished business there! The material may not have been strong in 1991 but the potential was there.
