Lucretia writes:

Came across this interview where James St. James mentions what he did the night before.

"Well, yesterday I went up to the Santa Maria courthouse to play with the freaks and fans outside the Michael Jackson trial. It was the most fun I've had in YEARS. Just a sea of psychotic freaks. All COMPLETELY convinced of his innocence.

And they all had that needy "please molest me" look that you see in the eyes of Morrissey fans. So hot. I mean, it was TOTALLY BONKERS."

Strange comparison indeed!

  • I've never wanted Morrissey to 'molest me'. And this person needs a smack in the mouth for associating Morrissey fans with M.J fans. I'm not crazed - well at least I think I'm not - but our lights up because we see an idol, hero somebody we respect on stage. Anybody else shocked by this ?...

  • From reading this board, I think Morrissey fans are the complete opposite to Jackson's.

Jackson's fans think he can never put a foot wrong and his motives are always pure (wonder what they make of the secret alcohol drinking and porno mags).

Morrissey's fans can't wait to berate him for any little transgression of what they think "Morrissey" should be. They also believe his motives are always selfish and venal.

  • i would love for morrissey to molest me.
    am i alone in this?

    i don't mind. really, i don't!

but, in no way am i similar to one of those rabid fans of michael jackson. they clearly have no taste and no intelligence. that man is a complete creep in every way and his music is boring.

morrissey...well he's just so loveably peculiar. it murders me.

  • I'd personally never dress entirely in clothes bought from the Disney shop which most of them seem to (huge generalisation, i know, but it's fun to generalise).

Maybe the look he's thinking of is the look of surprise/pain after you get kicked in the head by a 40 year old man trying to clamber his way on stage to investigate the rumours that Morrissey is opposed to underpants.

  • I'm surprised by the amount of people who are desirous of bouts of heavy petting with Morrissey- I always presumed he related to so many prople precisely because of his denial of sexuality (however real that might be)?

I've no desire to be fondled by him (although I do quite like to roll around nude on my Smiths vinyl collection until I become quite spent).

  • I am both a Morrissey and Michael Jackson fan. Let it be known. I am two people.

I don't think there is anything different between the two sets of fans with the exception that Morrissey fans tend to be more negative and whiney. I am one so that's no slam but if you doubt me just pull up any news comment here and read all the replies. So much bitterness coupled with so much devotion. We Morrissey fans have a fatalist approach to his art. We place him close to our hearts as someone who understands the way we often feel and the things that bring us excitement. That is very similar to what a MJ fan is all about.

Look I am not trying to defend MJ because he may be guilty. Time will tell. His music and creative output had declined to a point where I was close to losing interest. But let's not forget how important and excellent he once was. From the Jackson 5 to his Off The Wall and Thriller albums MJ crafted a wonderfully imaginative vision built from escapism. Many of the people on this board at least had Thriller whether they admit it today or not. He hit an absolute high note of funk pop at his peak. I wish he had stayed clean and had a few more albums of greatness but I also understand what the preassures must have been like to be MJ 24 hours a day in 1984. Remember as one man he was "bigger" than the Beatles or Elvis as far as album sales. He was not able to lead any sort of a real life. I respect his talent and his history with Motown and Quincy Jones. Amateur musicologists unite! ;)

  • How bad is that?! "They all had that needy 'please molest me' look that you see in the eyes of Morrissey fans"???? Is this guy for real?

I hate to break the news, but if you're going to a courthouse to play with the "freaks", "weirdos", and "psychotics", then Morrissey fans aren't your biggest problem right now. I'm sure that Craig, Emmanuel Lewis, Stalker Art, Brandon Flowers and Julia would have something to say about all this but i'm not even going to go there.

He does have a point though, I had the same look on my face that time the chick with no panties made it onto the stage.

  • If Morrissey fans can persuade themselves they don't know what "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle" is really about, how different are they really from MJ's fans?
