Smiths appear in flashback show ‘Reverb’ on Irish TV (Apr. 26)

'The Irish Times' states that the Smiths, Rory Gallagher and others will be featured in the first episode of new flashback show “Reverb” on RTE2 at 9.30pm, Tuesday, 26th April, described as nostalgia time for Irish rock and pop. It’s hosted by Des Bishop, and interviews with actors, comedians, TV hosts, radio Djs and musicians will be included, along with archive footage. Beneath the blurb, there’s a picture of the Smiths in action in which at first glance, Morrissey could be mistaken for Elvis.

  • I'm not sure if The Smiths were ever on any Irish television programme. If this show Reverb is made up of footage from the RTE archives I don't think there will be any footage of The Smiths. Apart from an interview with Morrissey in 2002 I don't think there is anything else. As I say, I'm not sure though I hope to be surprised.

      They were on a programme called "Megamix" on 13th February 1987 performing "Shoplifters". I have a dim recollection of this being hosted by Dave "stream of consciousness" Fanning, who did the 2002 interview, but I could be wrong.

      Let's hope this is what is shown, as I doubt if its been broadcast since 1987!
