If the news on www.f-p-e.com is true, then Good Charlotte not only get a talented drummer, but one step closer to Moz - since The Brothers Madden and gal Hilary Duff are such big Moz/The Smiths fans. If (hope) Deano's still playing the drums for Moz this year, then by looking at Good Charlotte's tour dates, we may not see any performances before Isle of Wight.

  • Might go to a show just to see Deano because he is too hot. Good Charlotte though?

I don't think I could stand it on second though.

  • This is such a sad state of affairs. I'm all for farming out the talent, but why this band? I suppose this means the Morrissey gig is on indefinite hiatus. It does nothing for your credibility to whore yourself out to a faux-punk band who in essence is an industry-wide joke, but I suppose the bills must be paid somehow. How much would the paycheck have to be to accept an offer from a band like Good Charlotte?

On a positive note, think of all the underage ass that old Deano is going to score on a bubblegum punk rock tour like this.

I'm almost sure you can do better than that.
  • What ever happened to Mr. Spencer Cobrin. The fact is Deano is a well-rounded drummer, but he plays all of the older Moz songs a bit too slow. And Good Charlotte? They're the worst, a bunch of posers! Spencer would never play w/ a bubblegum punk band! I'd like to see Moz w/ a new drummer on the next tour. Someone that gives the songs a new energy, rather than sucking the life out of them. Sorry Deano.

  • ...... precisely because of this. He is a SESSION musician. He has drummed with Alanis Morrissette and now with Good Charlotte. He'll play what's required of him and that's it. The thought of him writing SONGS with Morrissey frankly horrifies me. Spencer had more fire, and I also like Woody Taylor's drumming on Vauxhall - no pyrotechnics, but very well judged.

Morrissey should let Dean go,and dispense with Alain's services now that the opportunity has arrived. He should then bring in a brand new set of musicians and regain some of the lost magic.

  • i have three english papers i have to write to-day, and now i'm nausous. oh, great stuff. my skin crawls. if i ever see the name of that tired band (who likes them anymore anyway? i thought the eight year olds got sick of them.) on this site again, or 'connected' (vomits a bit) to morrissey in ANY way, then...hm. i don't have much of a choice.
but it's a horrendous shame to see those moronic and assinine hooligans in the same paragraph as moz. why do we even know who these people are? i thought we listened to quality music.

  • Does anyone remember the drummer a few tours ago, Spike? What happened to him, did he play a whole tour?

  • we may have forgiven jesus, but forgiving deano's going to be a little tougher on this one.

nonetheless, hey- at least he's getting out there and doing other work. good to be versatile.

new drumming isn't always bad. I initially didn't like what larry mullen started doing around achtung baby. i got over it, and now am much happier that the guy can actually play drums really really well (listen to their older stuff. it rocks hard, but it's all based on military parade marching stuff...), and i didn't warm to jason cooper when the cure got a new drummer in '96, but it sure was nice to have someone aboard who can actually play drums when it's needed (listen to the re-vamped live versions of songs from Pornography, compare them to lol tolhurst's sad sad drumming ability circa 1983...)

  • dean butterworth has the right to earn a crust at doing something he loves - you people are fucking awful!

i am a huge morrissey fan but i fucking hate this site now - rather than looking at the site and being with filled new info on the man - i just get annoyed by the childish snobery that plagues these boards.

oh dean must go, he must go ----- FUCK OFF!!!!!!!

  • .....Paul Thomas(the bassist in Good Charlotte) was my next door neighbour. Their music is certainly not my absolute favorite but it's not bad. I do admire their story as well. Plus, Paul is one of the nicest guys on the planet. Y'know Deans gotta make a living too, If Morrissey doesn't want his drummer playing other gigs than get down off his high stack of money and pay the poor bastard(thats what Luke Haines did!). You people(especially Clarkety click-clack) beat EVERYTHING!!!
