An anonymous person writes:

Marr talks about his new band, his relationship with Morrissey, and the Smiths.

Ex-Smiths guitarist is the voice of his new group, the Healers - by Jim Farber, NY Daily News, Jan. 9, 2003. Excerpt:

The Smiths' legendary status only fueled speculation about other reasons for the split: namely, the notorious tensions among the members. Marr dismisses this, but says he and Morrissey have no relationship at this point, and haven't for years. At the same time, he warns against "reading too much into that. There are times in your life when you have a very strong relationship and then you lose touch.

"Life goes on. We were brought together to write and a friendship grew out of that. But that situation doesn't exist anymore."

Marr claims to have no bitter feelings toward the famously eccentric singer, but he adds that he "very much doubts" he and Morrissey will work together again. "It would be like asking Martin Amis to write a new version of (J.D. Salinger's) 'Catcher in the Rye,'" he jokes.

  • I still think they'll get back together.
How? They'll cross paths in a rainy allyway in London. Moz will say "Good day sir--oh, it's you." Johnny will say "Oh, it's you." Five minutes later they're writing new stuff.
    That's all folks!

  • They've said it once...and they'll say it again, and again, and again...until people get the message.

  • I don't know about Johnny Marr, but I think that Morrissey knows that he could no longer write something that would hold up with the status of The Smiths. Just look at his last couple of albums for christ sake.

  • I just saw Morrissey and Marr together last night having a double meat burger and chugging some brewskies at the Cat and the Fiddle; They were writing songs for their new group...the Marrissey Project. This story never ends.......give it a rest!

  • Mr Marr is a flatulent pain in the posterior...

But the bottom line is he the one with a record deal...hence we have to suffer constant mention of his name on this and other Morrissey sites simply because there isn't any valid Morrissey news at the moment.

  • In the latest issue of Danish music magazine "Gaffa" Marr told the readers that he reads Noam Chomsky if he wants to be informed about the world.... hmm 'nuff said. Stay away from him moz! ;-) He's bad influence!

  • Johnny's comments are not necessarily contradictory. Wouldn't you ever like to do something you doubt will ever happen?

  • If you only want to focus on who Morrissey is now working with, this site will have very few news items a year.

P.S. There *is* a Johnny Marr website.

  • No Mozkateer, YOU have rightfully earned that title of the dumbass of all dumbasses. Perhaps someday junior, when you grow up, you will learn that good things don't always last and sometimes that is what makes them legends of their own time. Johnny Marr has done so many side projects and has truly made a name for himself, show the great man some respect.
