Oye, I know you must be super excited :D

Todd Rundgren, who produced New York Dolls' 1973 self-titled debut album, is set to reunite with the band and produce their next.

Rundgren will hit the studio with founding New York Dolls members David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain in January to record the album, which is as-yet untitled. The band will follow the release of the LP with a world tour.

The album will be released on the newly-relaunched Atco label through Warners.

"We're really excited to be working with Todd again," frontman Johansen said in a statement. "We're hoping to recapture the same magic on the forthcoming album [that was on the debut]."

This seems like a bad idea to me. As much as I love the NYD, this reeks of desperation. What can they possibly have to say? Punk shouldn't ever be played in the geriatric wing. 'Get off the stage.'

I really love their first albums... My favourite song is either Bad Girl or Showdown, but that last album is close to awful! It seems like they were influenced by all these later VERY American pop-punk bands, rather than the other way around. :( Please do this well!

Sarcky git!:p There's always a possibility it will be like the first... :( They were the best band I've ever seen live apart from Moz and when they were supporting Moz, I'm not sure who I preferred. Their last album was shite though. Except, the song from the last album We're All in Love is fantastic live-it sounds like a horror punk song, especially with Sylvain, Conte etc's backing vocals

Cause I Sez So is the new album from New York Dolls. It shall be their fourth studio album and their second since their reformation. It is scheduled to be released on May 5, 2009 on Atco Records. The album was produced by Todd Rundgren, who also produced their self-titled debut album. One of the songs, "Trash", is a re-recording of a song that originally appeared on their debut album.

conic Band Reunites With Famed Producer Todd Rundgren For Fourth Studio Album; Set Includes New Version of "Trash" Band To Perform At SXSW In March; U.S. Tour Begins In May.

Los Angeles — After working together on the New York Dolls' influential debut in 1973, the group reunited with producer Todd Rundgren this winter to record their fourth studio album, Cause I Sez So, set for a May 5 release on Atco Records.

Recorded at Utopia Sound Studio in Kauai, Hawaii, the album features 11 original compositions and a new version of Trash, which was on their 1973 debut album. "It was amazing working with Todd again, and I think we were able to evoke the special sound of our first album and drag it by the hair into the present," says frontman Johansen.

Prior to the album's release, the New York Dolls—David Johansen (vocals); Sylvain Sylvain (guitar); Steve Conte (guitar); Brian Delaney (drums); and Sami Yaffa (bass)—will appear at the South By Southwest (SXSW) music conference and festival in Austin, TX.

Tracklist:

1. "'Cause I Sez So"
2. "Muddy Bones"
3. "Better Than"
4. "Lonely So Long"
5. "My World"
6. "Ridiculous"
7. "Temptation to Exist"
8. "Making Rain"
9. "Drowning"
10. "Nobody Got No Bizness"
11. "Trash"
12. "Exorcism of Despair"
