I agree with your notion that often times people in the public eye still somehow maintain respect and their jobs when truths are revealed about the kind of people they are.

No offense iamnicola but the fact that R. Kelly still has a career of any kind is just ridiculous and it goes to show that if you have money to fuel the media and your own self promotion, the general public will still buy into what you are trying to sell them. Even if you peed on a minor while filming your sex acts, then tried to blame it on your brother. Some people. :rolleyes::sick:

How someone as dumb and unattractive as he is gets away with being a complete asshole is beyond me. I thought accepted assholery was reserved for the truly gifted and/or freakishly attractive. He has 2 personalities. When he's in the kitchen teaching people he is like a drill sergeant. He yells like a maniac and destroys your ego much like the military does. Once you've been beaten down, his praise has more power. When you have dealt with all that abuse and then were able to go back to cooking and succeed you will always be able to deal with the pressures of being in the kitchen.

Assholery as you call it works for him because people in his shows respect him and want something from him.

If he was a customer in a restaurant and no one knew who he was and he started calling everyone a donkey and screaming at everyone they would ask him to leave.

I also see the other side of him that wants people to succeed. Whether it's people on Kitchen Nightmares or people on Hell's Kitchen his goal is to transform these people into success stories.

A true asshole would only be an asshole for the sake of putting others down in order to boost oneself up. His end goal is a positive one. His method of getting there is definitely one that lacks nurturing but I believe it works when you have a small amount of time to make a large amount of change.
