View Full Version : The Illness Thread
Franzanna November 18, 2008, 06:42 PM This here is a thread for the Solo-ers/ people they know who aren't feeling very well at the moment. :) Give as many or as few details as you want about your illness.
I've started this as I woke up this morning with an upset stomach, and as I needed the toilet every half-hour, I had to stay off school. Thankfully it's got a bit better as the day's gone on, and with the best of luck it'll be gone by tomorrow morning.
Also: my mama has a sort of 'flu-ey cold, which has convinced her in a Coronation Street's Blanche sort of way that she is dying. :p

Yay! I don't think oranges are bad for upset stomachs, are they? Unless it was that clementine on Saturday. I have a feeling that's what caused this. :(

9 x Fined November 19, 2008, 01:50 AM I used to get sick all the time back in NY. The weather didn't help, but also taking public transport every day and working in a school exposed me to a lot of germies. In my new locale, I've only had one cold all year!!
:guitar::guitar::guitar:
withmyheadonthebar November 19, 2008, 11:48 AM I had a weird virus for two days last week and now have a big old flu-ey cold. Can't afford any more unpaid time off, so I'm sitting at my desk with the heating up full blast, wearing a long-sleeved top, a jumper and my coat. And I'm still shivering. This office is dumb.
Get well soon, everyone.

j funk November 21, 2008, 01:29 PM I don't deserve sympathy. I'm going to the pub in a minute as it's my mate's birthday. There's no obligation of course, as it was he who I was drinking with last night and we'll be out tonight, and his official party isn't till tomorrow, but any excuse.
Work will go quicker anyway.

I just went to the store and bought a bunch of juice and some chocolate milk. I'm thinking the milk is going to feel really good on my throat.
I've been taking ibuprofen and acetaminophen all day. The forcing of liquids is about to begin.
You don't want my cooties? :tears:
bysshe March 13, 2009, 09:02 PM Still running a fever. I think I might have flu. I've only ever had it once, many, many years ago so I'm not sure but I haven't been able to get my temp back down to normal in 2.5 days. :(
sistasheila June 10, 2009, 02:50 PM did develop a horrible cold beginning in london (mixed with hay fever*, which results in doesnt hear much/little at my right ear..feeling like a granny now "uh what did you say?speak in the other ear":o
hay fever h is supposed to be over normally as im allergic to early bloomers in spring but ...
.the doctor has giving me some nosespray but if it doesnt work
they have to cut open my eardrum and suck the liquid stuff behind my ear drum (thts why im not hearing much/little ) out of it. :barf:
its called paracentesis i have learned
.i remember having that operation when i was a kid (i wasnt narcotiised just getting ear drops to numb the ear drum and then they cut it open and suck while i noticed everything:barf::barf:
....since the nose spray didnt work..its seems to be happen again---i wonder if they got to do it tomorrow?hopefully i can attend the concert in berlin...
i fall sick at almost every morrissey concert:mad: (never at another concert)
last time in berlin it was an infection of the bladder and the antibiotics didnt work (was taking the first pill on that day) so i was fully having all sypmtoms and what comes to it..but still this didnt hold me back from enjoying the concert...manchester was incredibly foot pain ...ohh.. not to forget my ear problems which didnt allow me to fly to the ny concerts 2007
and you any illnesses recently?
or falling ill at morrissey concerts exclusely like me?
Scumfreezebag June 10, 2009, 03:20 PM I've got a headache, Insomnia is keeping me up all night and making me exhausted all day and i'm very miserable - for a change :)
girl still ill June 10, 2009, 03:53 PM You don't sound like your having a good time of it hun. Maybe you just really empathise with Moz, hence the always being ill at his gigs :)
I was ill after the manchester birthday gig. But that was probably down to queuing all day outside the apollo, in the freezing cold and rain, with little to eat and drink all day. Then being crushed at the barrier.
Good times :D. Was worth every second lol
Apart from that, i just suffer the daily misery of having crohns disease :tears:
Perhaps the most unglamorous illness to have.
Im sure the veggie diet makes things worse
Scumfreezebag June 10, 2009, 05:38 PM girl still ill - My brother has crohns disease, nasty isn't it! :(
I have chiari malformation, which aint much fun either.

i cannot belive it. a had a few days of toothache not to bad but you can tell there was something wrong so the appointment a the dentist i get was today
they found out it got inflamed so they plan to pull out the tooth st the 30th of july (its a tooth in the upper row , very much in the back so hard to get to it..now i get antibiotics and painkillers cause they dont wanna risk of he wound getting infected if they had decided to pull it out today...and it would take too much time as well so that was out of the Q today
i wouldnt do anything else than sitting around here as well so i rather go instead of blew my trip.
in emergency there is still a possibilty to goto the NHS doctors (that doesnt cost nothing right? with that european insurance card? somehow i have heard as long as you go to NHS doctors the health insurance pays? instead of the private doctors
i dont thinki have to go though as with medication with me...
sucks though to of course that it happen now..
in a few hours (in the late evening)my bus to london will depart..
hope it wont be as bad
swansong July 16, 2009, 06:24 PM Little bit hayfever-y earlier, which was subdued by antihistamines and heavy rain.
Bit paranoid about getting swine flu, as someone I was at work with yesterday has been off today with it. I'm not really bothered about catching it per se, but I'd be more than a bit pissed off if I had to miss Brixton on Sunday as a result.
Skinner July 16, 2009, 07:43 PM It's not an "illness" persay but its an occurance which has recently returned to me. Tonsil stones. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonsil_stones I had them in an intense way for a few years in college but haven't seen much of them in a couple of years. Well recently they have been coming back. Unlike most, I am not upset by this occurance, in fact I rather like it. I have a facination with removing things from ears, nose, throat etc. Tonsil stones being my favorite of them all.
For the record I make sure to remove them whenever I have them not just because it's really fun, but also so as to prevent the possibility of bad breath. I'm all good.

I have those too! Pain in the ass, but it is rumored that you get sick less if you get them because some of the bacteria gathers there instead of entering your body.

I'm not going to lie.. those things are a little creepy to me. I never heard of such a thing. Wikipedia says you can just remove them yourself. Very strange.

You can remove most of them yourself. Your tonsils are lined with tonsil crypts which are like tiny pockets. These pockets can fill with the tonsil stones, and many times you can remove them with a q tip. Sometimes though they are so large a doctor must do it for you, but those are much more rare cases. In fact if you seach for tonsil stones at youtube, one of the first videos (if not the first) is a of a doctor removing a lot of tonsil stones from a person. It's freaking awesome!!!
