Starbucks 'wasting 23 million litres of water a day'
Mon Oct 06 10:06AM
Starbucks has today been accused of wasting more than 23 million litres of water every day.

The coffee chain, which prides itself on being green, has a health and safety policy of leaving taps running in all of its 10,000 branches worldwide it has been revealed today.

The company policy prohibits staff from turning off a cold tap behind the counter called a 'dipper well'.

This means that Starbucks is wasting roughly 23.4 million litres of water on a daily basis. That's enough water to quench the thirst of the entire population of drought-stricken Namibia.

In Britain where there are just fewer than 700 branches of the coffee shop, 1.6 million litres are wasted every day.

Starbucks bosses claim that the flow of water stops germs from festering in the taps.

Peter Robinson of environmental charity Waste Water told The Sun: "Leaving taps running all day is a shocking waste of precious water. And to claim you are doing it for health and safety reasons is bonkers."

I've never really understood why Starbucks became so popular.

I cant even afford the REGULAR coffee anymore. But if I'm running late for school, the only place I can get some coffee in a hurry is at the school, and they serve starbucks (its not a starbucks store).

However, Green Mountain (http://www.greenmountaincoffee.com/)is about to open up on campus... oh, I'm in looove with them!

well their excuse is B***ocks,
I heard of this a week or three ago, some lorry driver was telling me, because he used to work for them, they do it because they dont wanna have to pay to replace the washers, because they'd have to send a plumber out and the callout fee etc...

not hard to just train the managers to change a washer, tis easy...

The liberals love it. Some liberals sit around in Starbucks all evening long talking about liberal things.

No surprise to me that Starbucks turned out to be massive hypocrites.

What do I care? I get my caffeine from Coca-Cola, and if I wanna hang out somewhere, I prefer a bar (especially one that is lax on enforcing anti-smoking laws).

Anyway, research showed that McDonalds has superior coffee. I don't drink coffee so I have to take the experts' word on that.

I'm sorta glad to hear how severe the water shortage is, though. Because this means that the Great Lakes region might rise again! That is, if people in the cities around the Great Lakes would stop voting for corrupt Democrats.

Both Obama and McCain agree: You motherfuckers in Southern Califnornia will not be allowed to steal the water from the Great Lakes!
