Magazine : 2009

Magazine, one of Britain’s most influential bands, are to reform
for just two concerts in February 2009.
Original members Howard Devoto, Dave Formula, Barry Adamson
and John Doyle are to be joined by an as yet unnamed guest guitarist,
to walk in the not inconsiderable footsteps of the departed, and sadly missed, John McGeoch.
It is the first time Magazine have played live together since 1980.
They are to play The Forum, London on February 13th & The Academy,
Manchester on February 14th. Tickets are released next Monday,
the 15th of September from the venue box offices and usual suspects.

The Forum / 0844 847 2405 / www.kentishtownforum.com
The Academy / 0161 832 1111 / www.ticketline.co.uk

Enduringly credible, Magazine have always been the connoisseur’s
choice and have been frequently name checked by some of the most
gifted musicians of recent years including Radiohead, Morrissey,
Jarvis Cocker, U2 & Maximo Park. This year, NME.com included
Magazine in a poll as one of the most influential bands of all time.
Magazine’s front man, Howard Devoto co-formed Buzzcocks with
Pete Shelley after the pair had seen the Sex Pistols in early 1976 and
promoted the now legendary Manchester Lesser Free Trade Hall gigs.
Devoto left in 1977, after the seminal “Spiral Scratch” EP had been
released, and created Magazine. Their first record was the post-Punk anthem “Shot By Both Sides”.
Four ground breaking albums later and the band had parted company,
leaving behind an influential body of work which was re-released by Virgin EMI last year to critical acclaim.
The concerts are being staged in association with The Gig Cartel
and Wire–Sound and will be recorded for possible release later in 2009.

have emailed them and they stated the following

I have spoken to the setup department and have been informed that these tickets were put on sale by mistake at the incorrect time however these tickets are still valid as we are the main sellers for the Academy.

but am unsure and will most likely ring em up. Mainly am worried about treking home booking tickets fer hotels and trains and then avin egg on me face! A was all smug when a bought them hahah

September 11, 2008, 02:16 PM
Samiy why are you worried? I've just booked tickets via the same place as you, Ticket Line, and they've been confirmed. I've also booked tickets for the London show via a text tickets website. If you go the Manchest Academy website it says pre-sale tickets are available from Ticket Line so thbere's really no need to worry. In fact you should be celebrating that you've scored tickets for what will be a tough show to get tickets for.

Samiy
September 11, 2008, 03:46 PM
yeh think am just worrying because a know its a once in a life time thing fer me. Ana rung them and they said the ticket was reet, am more relieved that you av bought tickets through ticketline ta a know am bein a spud

Great gig and a possible nod to Mozz as the intoduction to "Song from under the floorboards" was "Stop me if youve heard this one before"

I was late getting there and just made it in as Magazine came onstage so stayed right at the back but sounded great, and yes so many old men (like me ) ha ha, but next to me a guy so pissed he sat down and fell asleep !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well sure he will think he had a great night ha ha:crazy:
