View Full Version : Broody...erm, ness?!
mozzette September 15, 2008, 09:02 PM Is there a age when women (or men for that matter) are supposed to get broody. I have pangs of it (not to much thankfully) which freak the shit out of me. I had it today walking around a shop which had a cot section in it. I'm only 26!!

Some girls get broody younger nowadays, so think yourself lucky you're not 12 with 8 kids from 11 fathers...
I think 26 is a good age to have kids...I wouldn't have kids though....Can't stand them...:guitar:
mozzette September 15, 2008, 09:07 PM I'm about to hit 25, and I already have dreams in which I'm pregnant

Thank God I don't have a man in my life at the moment. I dread to think what would be happening. I think I am single for a reason at the moment. :D

Unless like I've said before; I give Mr Morrissey 10 mins with a turkey baster (if he's feeling generous). His genes are GOOD and I wouldn't ask him for cash. :D:p

When you were brought up waiting for Barbara Windors knockers in Carry On Films, it tends to make you susceptible to that kind of line...:o

What exactly IS broody? I thought it was being sort of premenstrual or worrying about things. What it sounds like you have is anxiety disorder. Get to your doc and get some Xanax. It works wonders. I am 46 and I get worried and flustered about things sometimes but if I cool down and think rationally, I usually beat the problem. Ohhhhh, (smack myself) BROODY- BABY- I cannot have children and that is a big heartache. 26 is about right for that. Sorry, I forgot what broody meant! Brain fart! :D
troubleluvsme September 17, 2008, 12:53 AM You think too much about groups of half naked men....are they going to wash your car?
also some of those chaps look like they have over large heads...on their shoulders!
ha ha...it's just the first thing I could find when I typed "men and jeans." :)
nugz September 17, 2008, 01:22 AM I've never heard the word broody before, but now that I know what it means...yes, it happens sometimes. especially when I see that adorable baby on the E-trade commercials. I don't actually want one though. not for a long while.
p.s. I'm your age mozzette, so don't feel bad. haha
vicarinatutugal September 17, 2008, 03:18 AM I keep reading the title of this thread as bloody em mess which makes me think of all sorts.
PsychodelicateGirl September 17, 2008, 08:30 AM Im your age too Mozzette, and lately I have been thinking about the concept of having a child. I do not want one, possibly ever. But of late, I have imagined what it would actually be like to have baby, and raise it. I think its part of some existential crisis I feel is just over the horizon for me, if I do not get into graduate school.
I think to myself, "maybe I can lie to myself that I wont be wasting my life, if I have a baby..." this is of course mental! And I won't actually do it, but its there, in the back of my mind.

Jesus Christ, get out of my freakin head. I wasnt sure what it was, but I think you just figured out for me why I have those ridiculous thoughts when I see the E-trade baby commercials. ugh. also, when I think about it too long, then I start to realize that I wouldnt be able to drink or smoke for 9 months, and then after the baby's born if I kept it up I'd end up on Dr. Phil or something, so that always kills my baby urge right then and there.

You just wrote my thoughts exactly. At least we're not alone. Seems like everyone I know have been getting preggers lately and I keep telling myself that it's because they have no aspirations for themselves anymore. I understand that sounds harsh but where I live most people my age and younger have terrible menial jobs (if any), no qualifications and they get money for having kids. I would actually be better off with a few kids what with the housing benefits. Even though I don't cost as much to the government I'm looked upon as some kind of 'cat-lady' for NOT having any at this age. Can't really win!
Northern life ain't as romantic as Moz made out...not these days anyway.
