Hah that's impressive! I dig Merritt's more synthy-side myself.
How you feel about Distortion? Xavier Says is easily my favorite tune of the year.

i think just about everything mr merritt touches turns to gold.

distortion is easily among my faves from the last year or so ,he(they)played at the sommerville theatre up here and i was balling my eyes out,i have not even done that at a moz show.it was amazing.hahaha

Oh, definitely. He's never disappointed me. I'm pretty sure he's made of magic or something.
Really good synth pop just makes my insides turn into melty goo.... which I enjoy. A LOT.

They need to come here, damnit! This is my angry face ----> http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/6189/grrrrrto6.png

In other news, this is a Gothic Archies tune, but whatever, it kicks ass and reeks of epic win:

I unintentionally saw Stephin Merritt perform 13 years ago, opening for The Tindersticks. I have been in love ever since. Nobody I knew had really heard of them, until 69 Love Songs came out. Now they're more of a household name. Saw them 3 times this year.

I want to say around '97,i was dragged to a show by a friend,as they wanted company,i think i had a cold at the time and felt like crap,so i went kicking and screaming.
about three songs into the show the cold was magically gone and i have been hooked ever since.

Lucky, I have Panic at the Disco as locals...

I've been listening to them quite abit recently. But today was a turning point. I now officialy love them. Merritt's is just fantastic. I think I should just talk like him for the rest of my life. I'm sure my affection for them will grow even more so when I get into 69 Love Songs.

And Distortion is beautiful...

when i think of bands that sing great songs about 'love' 2 come to my mind above all others:
Pulp
&
The Magnetic Fields, who pack into their
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/00/The_Magnetic_Fields_-_69_Love_Songs.jpg
'album' more lyrical brilliance about love than i previously thought was possible
the 1st volume of the above is simply the one you must have
songs like A Chicken with Its Head Cut Off tell what it really means to be in love and at the same time make one laugh
while I Don't Want to Get Over You is a song that i personally feel was written for me, it sums up how i feel about love :guitar:
the heartbreak of its loss, and the deep abiding feeling of never ever moving on :tears:

ps: volume 2 includes 'Papa Was a Rodeo' which every time i have ever played it for anyone who has not heard it, they always stop, listen, and ask me who sings it, its thats fuckin brilliant!
