I've seen U2 live several times, the first was in 1981 supporting The Police (I did go to see U2.) The best was in 1987 at a 75,000 sold-out Murrayfield stadium on The Joshua Tree world tour - what a gig, I will never forget it. They were the biggest band in the world at the time. Ok so I have a silly little U2-related story to share. I was a freshman in college living in LA when it was announced on KROQ that U2 were filming a music video downtown. It was the "Where the Streets Have No Name" video. My friend and I hopped in her car and headed downtown. Traffic was horrendous as you can imagine. By the time we got there, filming had been shut down and everyone was being directed to get the hell outta downtown.

Needless to say we were bummed. I don't know what possessed me but I decided to tell my friends back home in NJ that I was actually there. :doh: Stupid. As fate would have it, when the video was released there happened to be a girl in the video for a split second that looked like me. News back home spread like wildfire that I was in the new U2 video. I felt like an idiot for having lied about being there. Slowly but surely I set the record straight as best I could. Regardless, on the seldom occasions that I visit my hometown, people STILL ask me about that.

I honestly have not embellished a story since ... well, at least not to that degree. ;)

We were on Adam's side of the stage. Since we had 2nd row seats, we decided to make signs to hold up for the boys. One of my signs asked, "Okay. . . who's not wearing any underwear tonight?" and it was inspired by something Bono said about not wearing knickers. On the flip side I wrote, And who's wearing women's underwear tonight (adam)?" because Adam had admitted that he enjoyed wearing women's underwear.

At one point during the show, Adam looked over in our direction. We screamed his name at the top of our lungs and he looked directly at us. As soon as we had his attention, I held up my sign. He squinted at it, read it and began to smile. As soon as I was sure that he was finished reading, I flipped the sign over. He squinted some more and then broke out into a huge beautiful grin, laughed, and walked away.

Breaking: U2 Will Perform at Fordham

U2 will indeed perform a concert at Fordham’s Rose Hill campus on March 6 at 8 a.m. for Good Morning America (GMA). The concert is open to students, faculty, staff and Board of Trustee members. Attendees are expected to be on Edwards Parade by 6:30 a.m. GMA will film live clips of the crowd beginning at 7 a.m. U2 is set to perform from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. The two first sessions of classes are cancelled for both the Rose Hill and Lincoln Center campuses. This information was confirmed by an e-mail sent to the Fordham community from the office of the president.

U2 is appearing somewhere in Chicago March 10.

Local promoters and the band's label, Interscope Records, are being very tight-lipped about the secret event, for which local radio stations have given away exclusive tickets to a small number of winners.

DJ Cara Carriveau of WTMX-FM 101.9, who awarded the station's last set of tickets this morning, says the band's appearance is a DJ set, not a performance, and that "you absolutely cannot get in" unless you've won tickets from a radio station.

That opinion may be a bit extreme -- there's always room for A-listers and pushy hangers-on at these sorts of publicity events -- but safe to say that tickets are tough to come by.

While no one will confirm the location, rumors have focused around Metro or its adjacent, DJ-focused dance club, Smart Bar. "There's definitely not anything happening in Smart Bar, and there's not any live performance that I'm aware of," according to Metro publicist Jenny Lizak, who could neither confirm nor deny the possibility of a DJ set at Metro. (The Tribune's Greg Kot also hints that you may see the band along Clark Street.)

WXRT 93.1 marketing director Katie Funkey confirms that the station will broadcast live at an undisclosed location, from 8-9 p.m. Tuesday, when U2 will spin their favorite records. No comment from Funkey when asked if the show would be held at Metro.

No word yet from LiveNation, who's promoting U2's upcoming stadium tour, hitting Soldier Field Sept. 12.

Bob Dylan is not the only rock star upsetting Malibu residents. U2's The Edge, aka David Evans, has infuriated neighbours with his plans to build five homes across 1,000 acres of prime real estate.

The guitarist bought two parcels of land, at Latigo Canyon and Serra Retreat, in November 2006. "Two years ago he pulled up outside my house and mentioned he was going to be my new neighbour," Jim Smith, a building contractor, told the LA Times. "He was friendly and charismatic. I was happy knowing he was buying the land, as I assumed he would be sensitive to the environment – though that's not the case."

Smith is angry over The Edge's plans for a nearby mountain, which he says will be excavated as part of residential development. He claims the original mountain will disappear, to be replaced with a 20-storey, man-made blot on the landscape.

The problem isn't just mountains turned into molehills, insists another neighbour, Scott Wilder. "I can presently see a view from my home, called the 'Queen's Necklace,'" Wilder said. "[It] shows areas of LA, from Santa Monica to LAX. The development will directly impede residents' existing views and impact the scenic drive through Latigo Canyon for the general public."

The Edge's neighbours' other complaints include the danger of water run-off, land erosion, and the eviction of a beloved bow and arrow league. "They evicted the archery club, which was an institution in Malibu," said Candace Brown, another resident. She and other neighbours have seen local wildlife, including deer and foxes, trapped in a newly dug trench "the size of three [American] football fields".

"When I expressed my concerns about the development, he told me he was sympathetic to my concerns," Smith said this week. "He's done nothing. He's not walking the walk of an environmentalist."

I'm going for Vegas GA's. I have a presale code so I should be able to get them pretty easily.

Yeah the shows are selling out really quick but keep checking them because sometimes they release back a bunch of tickets later.

I heard the Soldier Field sold out the first show in 40 minutes. They added a second show which I heard sold out in 30 seconds :confused: which had to be a joke. Right? Still... the place holds over 60,000 people. :eek: all scalpers, prolly. I'm gonna find a way to go - it's my birthday 'weekend'. Is allowed. :) so...I hope Moz doesn't come back around then. :D

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get a ticket for your berfday. :D
